Is Metroid scary? Being inspired by Alien, it certainly has horror elements.
>>750654856Imagine you wake up to the sound of her giggling, you open your eyes and see that you're in a dimly lit chamber. As you try to move, you realize that your arms and legs are fastened to a crossbeam, spread apart. You also notice now that you are completely naked. She comes from around the corner, still giggling, before delivering swift, brutal kicks to your exposed, dangling testicles. What do you do?
>>750654856Like Bloodborne, Metroid is thematically horror but not a horror game because your character is ludicrously overpowered compared to the monsters. It's Sigourney Weaver at the end of aliens soloing the hive and beating the queen in a fist fight.
>>750655004Yeah, I feel that way as well. There's plenty of elements that are horror themed, but you're playing as Samus Aran, so there's no real sense of vulnerability. The closest the games ever get to actual horror are Fusion and Dread, and even then, the resident monster that you can't shoot can be avoided until you find the weapon that can kill them.
Here's your Zero Suit Dark Samus, bro.
She HOUNGRY!

Why is it so fucking difficult to get anyone on this shitty website to engage in a conversation?
No
>>750658325because you're just going to call them a fag the moment they respond sincerely
>>750658498Projection. I never do that, because I actually want to talk about stuff. In this case, whether or not Ravenous will play up the horror aspects. Samus is both mechanically and visually vulnerable in this game, so I'm wondering if the intention is to somehow balance "Samus is fucking cool." and "Oh god, everything is trying to kill me.".
