I really really want to like big board games but all the fun is usually sucked out by the end of the second hour if not the first. It's the same thing with DnD. For that reason I'd go with starting a new Minecraft world with big ideas for a base with a dock and a lighthouse and a floating island where the mage tower will go and then the two week phase is over.
