How do you feel about MGSV now that data-mining has proved that the shipped game is basically what Kojima intended? Chapter 3 PEACE was just the title card for Nuclear Disarmament aka the end of the game. Mission 51 was intended to be a short DLC epilogue. The Battle Gear was cut because of performance reasons, and adult Chico seemed to have played a very small part in the game which is probably why he was cut. None of the cut content was major. The "it's unsatisfying because le phantom pain! war never ends!" posters were unironically right.

The unfinished meme was always just cope because people didnt like the open world structure and story of the game. Even if they added more content those things wouldnt magically change. It was always going to be "Boss go there and kill/extract that guy" because thats how the game is designed at its core

Looking at existing files can prove nothing about planned content you retard.

Define "planned content".

Peace is the end, like death of the war

Don't care

Anyways, tell me how you all would "finish" the game. What chsnges would you make? What would you add? Remove?

Konami's greed worked in the game's favor because selling Ground Zeroes as a separate prologue instead of having it take place after Phantom Limbs like originally intended was way cooler and more hype.

first chapter ends with hellbound, africa is chapter 2 and final chapter 2 is 3
make repeat missions into hard modes like in gz (unlocked after finishing a chapter)
move everything from "customization" menu into sortie prep and other relevant menus
add total stealth modifier as a toggle in the settings
a cutscene viewer
that's about it

Honestly Infinite Heaven basically added everything I could realistically ask for. If I wanted to dream I would have wanted a third snow-based map but thats probably not feasible

This

Kojima was fired prior to the end of development. Who’s to say he wasn’t planning a release delay or MGS6?

Bullshit.

Co-op was cut.
Return to Camp Omega was cut.
Most Mother-Base interiors and major NPCs were cut.
Drivable, customizable Battle Gear was cut.
Walker Gears were cut.
Not-Cyborg Ninja chico was cut.
And it's just insane bullshit that Jewnami cocksuckers still insist Chapter 3 to be anything but cut, when its 50% done cutscene compilation was included in the Special edition.

They could consider creating a fictional event and/or region for a snowy area.
Conflict on the Kuril Islands perhaps. Soviets vs American Backed Japanese.

Yeah, all the "extreme" and "subsistence" missions should have been optional modifiers for every mission.

If any fucking idea that got a piece of concept art is "cut content" then every game ever released is unfinished. You can't just "Well they had more stuff they wanted to do!" because that's literally every game ever
>>
>>750650845
I mean I do think mission 51 and the battle gear were fairly major omissions, you can really feel that there was supposed to be payoff to those things.

That aside though, I think the fact that so many people felt the game was unfinished or lacking despite there not actually being much cut content, still proves that the game was lacking. "It's unsatisfying on purpose!" isn't a very good defence. There's a lot I love about this game, but there's a lot of aspects where it falls short too. I think it feels so unsatisfying because there is so much potential in it to be a way better game than it was. Also doesn't help that the story was so hyped up before release and people built theories that ended up being more interesting than the actual plot of the game. I think the real "phantom pain" is the feeling that the game just fell short of living up to what it could have been. Not in a thematic sense, but in the sense that it had all the ingredients to be a 10/10 and ended up being just a 7 or 8 because of poor design choices handicapping it.

Make Paz quest mandatory and required to unlock the true ending. This is the bare minimum to salvage what is already there and make it structurally and narratively coherent.

There are many things I would've changed otherwise, but that would require to rework the entire story. Fuck vocal cord parasites, fuck Quiet, fuck Code Talker - all useless, terrible characters and plot devices. Make Skull Face intimidating as he was in Ground Zeroes. Make his motivations and plans not laughably gay. But that's all just wishful thinking and cannot be changed.

People said the same thing about Dragon's Dogma 1 and then when Dragon's Dogma 2 came out 12 years later it was basically the same game as the first. There are just inherent problems to making a very system focused game. It will never be as tightly paced and designed as a more linear game because it by its very nature it can't be that. For example MGSV's story is on paper pretty interesting but its execution is very lackluster, because it has to fit in the framework of an open world game, so a lot of exposition comes from audio tapes and guard dialogue.

If this game feels unsatisfying and poorly designed idk what you think about previous games, those fall apart after the first couple of "tech demo" areas
