Gaming collapse when?
>>
>>750646512
More like American gaming collapse because eros can make 10, 9/10 games for 500 mil
>>
>>750646512
>Gaming

You mean US gaming and its already fucked.
Good riddance.

I had more fun playing Schedule 1 which was made with scraps than any game that cost over 100 million dollar to make.
>>
>>750646512

Remember how Kojima's MGSV budget of 85 million USD was scandalously bloated and got him fired? I remember.
>>
>>750647451
>half the budget was spend making the Fox Engine which was supposed to be Konami's MTFramework/REengine powering their future games.
>>
game will have insane legs, will see a surge during the Holidays and the 10 year plan they have in place for the incredible multiplayer/horde mode will keep people buying into E-Day

it’ll be fine, it’ll probably make at least 3-4 times its budget in a few years time, way too soon for conjecture, it’s not a massive flop like Wolverine
>>
>>750646512
I would love to see a detailed breakdown of how that money was spent.

Pretty soon they'll cost around 500k with no noticeable difference in quality (this is not a compliment).

This is literally the only game I've ever seen cost $500m. Everyone was shocked at how much Wolverine cost and that was $300m

The thing is with MTFramework (RE engine is more a continuation of it) was that it fit the needs of Capcom at during the early 2000s perfectly and they explicitly phased it into common use among their production studios because they wanted to stop making new engines for each game they're making and just make one coheisve one. They even looked into Unreal3 before realizing that it was underperformant and had technical limitations for their needs.

While the FOX Engine is a marvel of its own, it clearly existed solely for Kojima's MGS games and while that one soccer game also used it, it wasn't really meant as a Konami engine like MTFramework or RE Engine was for Capcom., especially considering Konami wanted to get into mobile gaming at the time.

I forgot to add that MTFramework was also made to be modular and to have shit added onto it over time. There's entire articles on how Dragon's Dogma changed the engine from handling basic small stages to also handling open world shit and all the more complex event, physics and world/character state handling that entails and that wouldn't be as smoothly done had they done everything like the FOX ENGINE, which was designed with Kojima's and Kojima's vision alone.

I kinda see why even Japanese game developers are moving away from having singular auteurs call the shots. It's good for publicity but it can stifle any sort of adaptability should things change out of necessity or convenience. The RE Engine (and now the MTFramework engine since it's better understoord now) wouldn't be as modable if it was only intended to do one thing some auteur wanted.
>>
>>750646512
That's not what AAA games cost. It's what rampant mismanagement looks like. Every single person in a supervisory role should be fired and blacklisted from the industry.

Making new studios to continue franchises they previously had was a mistake to begin with, all the new Halos and Gears have been dogshit and they keep selling less and less. If they had used that money and time to create new franchises they would probably be in a better position now.
Who am I kidding they would have been shit too.

This isn't even the issue, the issue is that management at Microsoft is absolute fucking dogshit filled with nepobabies, jeets and trannies.

It was already terrible by the time they bought RARE and Lionhead.

>>
>>750646512
Meanwhile Phantom Blade Zero's budget is $55 million. American game dev is simply untenable and you're going to see a lot of outsourcing to China and eastern Europe (Saber has already said all their games are outsourced).
>>
>>750646512
Ok, but why?
>>
>>750650758
No, most spending is on the hundreds of developers who are earning nearly if not six figure salaries for 5+ years while they work on a game
>>
>>750653027
>play the new Hellraiser game
>full on frontal nudity, hyper gory, women getting her skin peeled off, other shit that no califag studio could even consider doing without having multiple nervous breakdowns
>devs are Serbs and Bosnians

Based slavs not giving a fuck about western sensibilities and knowing what hyper BDSM ACTUALLY looks like.
>>
>>750653027
The thing is that salaries are way larger in America and the video game market is global, you don't get to sell it for more because the game is made in America.
If you add to that that american devs are trannies who only care about injecting stuff in games that actively make them sell less, it's a fool's errand to make a game there.
>>
>>750653230
And even if your studio lucks out and overcomes these costs to make a big profit, you still get laid off when the executives decide you didn't meet expectations, then turn around and pay themselves big bonuses. That sounds like a meme, but it's exactly what happened to the BF6 devs.
>>

Claude, make a profitable gears of war game
>>
My uncle once told me a story about when he worked in upper management at a Coca-Cola bottling plant. The plant needed to be renovated, and the executives hired a company, knowing full well that it would overcharge them, while secretly arranging kickbacks with the company behind headquarters’ back. We’re talking millions here. I can imagine that exactly the same thing is happening at Sony and Microsoft.
>>
Absolutely disgusting, think of how many sea vessels that $500 million dollars could have added to Lord Gabens oceanic fleet, abhorrent behaviour
>>
>>750646512
I mean for 800 devs and 7 year dev time thats not that much...

The problem is that instead of GTA6 gears of war edition, they made a 10 hour long game that looks like it cost 30 milion to make.
>>
Maybe we don't need more AAA games.
>>
>>750653230
Yeah that's my point. Between paying an American $150k a year and a slav $50k, you should take the slav 10 times out of 10.
>>
>>750654686
it closer to 70-80k in shitholes like poland or czech republic
russia and ukraine are the last cheap slav countries, but one is blacklisted and other is so corrupt its a coin toss if you will get anything back and if you dont you cant even seek legal action, might as well outsource to india

>>
>>750656609
No, we do know. It was so bad Ubi sent it to one of their Canadian studios to try to salvage it and they couldn't fix it, so it got written off as a total loss.

>gta6 is made by indians
Human slaves shitting out art assets isn't making the game. The design and serious engineering work are all done by Americans and Europeans.
