I remember that PoR didn't emulate well on an R4 because it had some kind of special cartridge with more RAM or something so it would crash often.

Because of that I didn't play it until much later than DoS and OoS but I still think it's the weakest of the three. DoS (and Aria) just have a much better feeling castle and it feels like there are way more secrets and payoffs to exploration. I don't really remember any noteworthy secrets or hidden things in PoR which really put a damper on my experience.

OoS is much more linear but feels a bit like a classic CV game at times and has some really spectacular presentation with some of the bosses. I enjoyed the story/tone with you being essentially a Vatican demon hunter/assassin too.

PoR isn't bad but I think that DoS is one of the best Metroidvanias period and OoS has great presentation so it just kind of slips through the cracks (kind of like CotM which is rightly overshadowed by Aria but still a fine game).

I played the whole game without Charlotte, I tried using her but I just did not like how she played so I only used Jonathan and it felt more like a classic castlevania. Besides the guy alone has enough skills to adapt to any situation and not only that he has the more fun moveset, Charlotte just has spells.
