>Genshin develops 12-13 patches at a time to keep up with the 42 day patch scheduleHow the fuck can a Japanese company even compete?
Isn't it easier to cut down development time of a version to 42 days instead of whatever this shit is?
>>750644004Are any of the patches good?Oh who am I kidding, it's a gacha. They just optimize how to drain your wallet faster.
>>750644004By making actual good games, instead of gacha?
i don't like patches. just release game. then start making another game.
>>750644132How the fuck would that be easier? Unless you mean that the scope of each patch should be brought down and all assets and code should be developed using AI. Nobody is gonna play that tho, there are better quality gachashit out there than 42 day vibeslop.
>>750644004its easy to make slop in parralel when everything is the same shit, just new skin and cut and paste assets. oh no, you reskinned the same fucking event over and over. how did you do it so fast. amazing chinkonese innovation!
>>750644376Nah, I mean, the closest thing I can think of is OSRS, where the devs are working on like 40 updates at a time, to be implemented as they are (Jagex's idea of finished) finished, and in the end it's effectively the same as each update taking on average a week or two in even if they sometimes take years. I assume they have a work division scheme like that already, but that is somewhat different from the way it's worded, at least in my interpretation of it. There is nothing special about having many parts in development at a time after all.
>>750644004>patches take over 500 daysThey can probably compete by just existing. Elden Ring took as long to make and release as a single Genshin patch, apparently.
>>750644004You realize Mihoyo is insane when you pay attention to their balancing. They have a legitimate math god in their dev team, at least one.
>>750644135They are actually.>>750644132They do an update every 6 weeks, some of these are huge with new areas but all of them have new big quests, new characters, new minigames, etc. A version update is like a sequel sized massive expansion and they come out once per year.
