I hate the sense of being lost. why do old games have to be like this?
>>750640874its called exploration and discovery. its for alpha males with testosterone
>>750640874@Grok please put some mustard on this picture so OP can get a hint on where he should go
>>750640874because we used to love the sense of being lost
>>750640874What you hate is adversity because you see it as a barrier between you and your next game to consoom
>>750640874Because life used to not be about minmax speedrunning everything so you can spend more time slaving in the wage cage for shekelberg
>>750640874You start to be able to kind of sense where progress might be the more you play old games, but not always. Metroid Prime isn't too bad, I did get lost a couple of times the last time I played it though
>have map>don't use itwhy are zoomies so fucking retarded?
>>750640874Basic gestalt is that there are two types of character movement games. Action game, and adventure game. In an action game, the goal is straight forward, the challenge is in the execution, while in an adventure game executing the actions is relatively easy, but the challenge is in figuring out what to do next. In essence, without the feeling of being lost, there would be no game.
>>750640874mprime is like babby's first exploration game wtfplay daggerfall or system shock
>>750640874Being lost is sometimes part of the fun in a gameBesides, forget about that shit; how the hell can anyone play a game with so much clutter on the screen? I get it's for "immersion" that some older games did when the character you're playing is wearing a helmet, but that's a bit too much for my liking

>>750643102Metroid prime is literally one of the pioneers for diagetic game UI. I vastly prefer something like prime's to the shitty 5% opacity fadeaway UI that almost all games have now
>>750640874I've never been lost in a Metroid game, it must be a gen Z thing.
>>750640874This port runs at 1000fps on my potato computer, almost quake/doom tier sourceport level of optimisation.
>>750640874don't play metroidvanias. alternatively play fake metroidvanias without exploration like metroid fusion
>>750650427I don't believe you if you never got lost in NEStroid, getting to kraid is absurd
>>750653585Getting to Kraid is actually really simple, if you don't find yourself running in circles in the top right of the map.
>>750654346>going through a nondescript fake lava pit in a game full of lava pits after getting through a hidden bomb panel in a series of seemingly repeating rooms is simple no>fusion in S tieryikes
