ps2 fags are mentally ill
>>
>>750639001
I’ve never played a single one of these and none appeal to me.
>>
>>750639001
Timesplitters and Midnight Club.
Honorable mention to Matrix, SSX and AC2
>>
>>750639168
I'm trans btw
>>
>>750639001
Armored core 2 and Eternal Ring.
Eternal Ring is actually a pretty solid little game.
>>
>>750639001
Tekken and SSX
>>
>>750639168
ps2 being a DVD player killed the dreamcast.
All the new consoles then were too expensive, but PS2 was cheaper than a standalone DVD player on launch and was a DVD player, it was an easy sell to gaming hesitant parents.
>>
>>750639168
toy vs console
>>
>>750639001
These are just the launch titles, not the PS2's 2000 lineup. By the end of 2000 you'd have titles like Sky Odyssey, Gradius III & IV, Donald Duck Goin Quackers, and Aqua Aqua to consider.

Like most PC games it doesn't hold up when compared to superior console games.

Can't. All of those games are shit.
>>
>>750639001
smuggler's run and time splitters, spent way too long just aimlessly driving around in smuggler's run especially in the one map with the snowy mountains area. the swamp map was also cool, wish I played it when I was a little older though since young me just did whatever the sandbox mode was 90% of the time.
>>
>>750639001
Armored Core 2 and Tekken Tag Tournament.

>>750639271
I've only ever really heard Eternal Ring described as "King's Field except bad" so I've never gotten around to trying it.
>>
>>750639193
This is probably what I would go with if I was restricted to only the games shown too. In reality, the PS2 was the first console I purchased with my own money from my first job. I mostly just replayed Metal Gear Solid 2. One year I was stuck living in my father's empty house with no telephone. I had power but shit what a year. I had Metal Gear Solid 2. Books. Whatever television show I could pick up through the antenna which realistically meant watching Oprah like I was getting news in a bottle washed up on shore. These days I don't know how anons complain about having no fucking games. Holy shit these pricks are spoiled twats.
>>
>>750639001
TimeSplitters and midnight Club
Gungriffon Blaze if I got a third pick
>>
>>750639001
TTT and Armored Core 2. Just like in real life
>>
>>750639001
Ready2Rumble Round 2 and Midnight Club Street Racing
Replayability through the roof
>>
>>750639001
TimeSplitters and the DVD of The Matrix. In 2000, we didn't know those things about those directors...
>>
>>750639001
When did we start pretending this was a bad launch lineup?
theres atleast 10 great games there, id sure get my money out of it
>>
>>750640572
Not to mention the real value of these games was the high replayability, either alone or with friends, even if the game itself was mid at worst.
It could been a boring Saturday afternoon during your teens and say "fuck it, let's go with Tekken or SSX for a bit"

TRVKE

I think it's safe to say a lot of anons are just shitposting or genuinely had no friends. We got so much mileage out of SSX and TimeSplitters it was retarded.
>>
>>750639315
They did the same thing with the PS3 being a bluray player. Fuck I still use my ps3 as my bluray player.
>>
>>750640656
people really have a problem looking back in hindsight because most of these games are great but they all had god tier sequels
SSX got followed up by Tricky
Midnight Club got II and then 3
Tekken Tag got outshined by Tekken 4
Timesplitters 2 made people forget there was a 1
>>
>>750639168
Not to mention it had the entire PS1 library. If the Dreamcast could play Saturn games, it still wouldn't compare.
>>
>>750641026
people genuinely downplay the BC alot, i worked at a electronics store in 2002 and we had tons of people trading in old Playstations to buy PS2's, all the while Playstation games were still flying off the shelves
>>
>>750640912
>recency bias at play
>>
>>750639663
I played on both, it's a good game but only on PC.
OTOH, Midnight Club 2 released on PC too and I played it on PS3.
Right tools for the job.
>>
>>750640912
>Tekken Tag got outshined by Tekken 4
I hate the Majora's Mask social media effect
>>
I only had paper mario in 2000.
Ps2 was impossible to get until the next batch hit the states; March 2001 or so
>>
>>750639168
The PS2 had the entire PS1 library and was bought as a DVD player by millions. It had a lot of gems hidden in an ocean of shovelware too. Just like Wii and Switch
>>
what i got on the midnight release
>>
>>750641842
Wish I took care of my games as a kid, I would just cover the top of the console in loose discs lol. $200 copies of Silent Hill 2 GH and BT3 that probably won't even start ;_;

And that blue box is extremely comfy and nostalgic.

Microsoft Xbox killed the Dreamcast to save Sega from bankruptcy.
Idk if Microsoft is the good or the bad guys here.

>All the AC games

>gun griffon blaze

pretty gud /m/ lineup
missing out on Zeonic Front Encounters in Space and Fed Vs Zeon EX Robotech Battlecry and RAD
>>
>>750639120
dynasty warriors 2 is awful, feels like a ps1 game
>>
>>750640572
yeah it's an awful launch lineup, gamecube had melee, luigi's mansion, Pikmin, wave racer, and pro skater 3
xbox had halo, pro skater 2x, and doa3
ps2 had the bouncer i guess
>>
>>750642129
>>
>>750640912
One thing doesn't invalidates the other, anon. They were still great games in hindsight, focused on the player having FUN instead of cinematic experiences, convoluted complex epic stories and particular state of the art game mechanics
>>750643297
>actually defending Xbox
Come on now, you're trying to hard
>>

What's up with the bigger boxes for Mana Khemia, Ar Tonelico and a couple more? Did it come with a game manual included? Was that even a thing anymore?
>>

I had ssx and armored core 2
I thought the ps2 sucked for a while

pre-gamecube and xbox 6th gen games look like a fever dream, almost like a different era
>>
>>750643754
NTA but the beefy game manual era started to die out at the middle to end of 7th gen. 6th gen was all about giving you maps and borderline books for its games, especially the PS2
