Pokemon were supposed to feel like strange monsters that researchers were racing to find the origins of. In the earlier gens, they were shown to be existing alongside mundane real-world animals, and some pokedex entries even point out how odd pokemon were compared to animals. From the very beginning you had pokemon like magnemite and voltorb which were obviously not animal-like.

thanks Chatgpt but I didn't ask

>In the earlier gens, they were shown to be existing alongside mundane real-world animals,
When?
And remember, you said games. So no spin-off media or concept art.

Magical furries in a saccharine world were simply more marketable.

Ancient pokeverse humans slept with pokemon

gen 1 pokedex entries reference real life animals

rgb and gs are the only canon games if you really care about the original direction of the series
theres a real split in aesthetics basically like pre and post mario mandate
millennials just cant stand to learn that rse set everything on a different
unova is the perfect blend of early and modern vibes and so its my favorite

>mundane real-world animals

FUCK YOU TOO, NIGGA!
>>
>>750635231
True, I kinda like that more too now that I think about it. Finding pokemon back then, especially legendaries, felt like you were venturing the unexplored.

>Raichu's earlier pokedex entry mentioning an "Indian Elephant"
>Several appearances of real world animals in the anime like real fish, worms, and mongooses.
>Tons of food in the first season were just real animals like lobsters and other fish.
Just watch the first season of the anime. It's clear they didn't have enough pokemon to fill the gap at the time. Later on they retconned all of that shit.

>>Raichu's earlier pokedex entry mentioning an "Indian Elephant"
is that also in the Japanese version? because the examples in >>750635863 are not in the original game, it's all localized

Isnt god a pokemon now?
>>
>>750635728
How is RS's direction any different. DP was when the retardation started.
>>
>>750635231
After gen 3 sadly nobody cared about that shit sans the legendaries.

No the avatar of god is a Pokemon, not God itself
>>
>tfw you want to buy physical USA brand new in box copies of these games
I don't really want to spend 5k, though.

Why would need brand new boxes copies?

Fuck you!!!!

>>Tons of food in the first season were just real animals like lobsters and other fish.
That makes me wonder, how is food portrayed in later seasons? Is there still meat or is it all vegetarian foods?
>>
>>750636650
Sandwiches that you make in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have numerous meat options.
