I'm so annoyed, I was looking forward to finally being able to play this, did a bit of the tutorial, the game specifically said "Your progress has been saved" so I thought, better close the game and make sure it's actually saving, there's no quit button so I just close the window, reopen it and find out it did not actually save the game. This is annoying enough on its own but then I look around online and nobody else is complaining about save problems anywhere, except for a single Steam review, so the problem is either something on my side or very rare. Also to my additional displeasure there's a shitload of what seem to be AI-written "guide" websites for the game that don't actually contain any information specific to the game but nevertheless put the game's title all over the place so that they'll appear on search engines. It's all just as well because at least on PC, the controls are much clunkier than I was expecting. I would have put up with it for the aesthetic, but with the save issues on top of that, I'm thinking maybe not. Incredible these people have been making games for years but a manual save is too much with them.I don't expect anyone here to know or care, I just wanted to rant. I'm extra annoyed because there are plenty of other games in the genre I was interested in playing but was holding off on because I was waiting for this one and didn't want to burn out. Wasted time I could have already been playing one of those. I've learned my lesson, if there's something I want to play, just play it. If the game is actually good it won't be ruined by me playing something similar prior.
Actually this is bizarre, I dug around more and found someone already made a mod for the game that allows quicksaving. I've never seen that happen for such an obscure game, there are no comments on the mod, nothing anywhere else on the internet talking about it, barely any downloads. This could fix the game for me if it's legit but why isn't there anyone talking about it, and how was it released so quickly. But at the same time what benefit would there be to making an illegitimate mod for such a small game.
>>750634076lmao, I literally had the same experience as youuninstalled right then and there when I found out my progress was either gone or was never saved in the first place
>>750634076Games that don't have a manual save are really amateur game design. I was playing an older(2010's) game and it only has autosaves to track your progress. And it doesn't tell you when it autosaves, so after a cutscene I'm just rolling the dice and hoping it saved before I stop playing for the day.
>>750635407Okay I'm glad I'm not completely insane then and only somewhat insane, apparently this is just a completely fucked up game, which is weird cause it's been out in Japan for a few months already, you'd think something like this would be well known by now but nobody cares. Especially crazy because this game is supposed to be like 50 hours long and losing your save would be disastrous. I suppose I should have expected as much from NIS.>>750635947Yeah I find it ridiculous that there are games that still do it, though even in 2010, just off the top of my head Fallout 3 and NV are from around that time and they let you save anywhere so it was inexcusable back then too. Plenty of ways to add challenge to a game without the random chance of losing your progress because the game crashed, or the power went out, which seems to happen to me any time it rains around here, or it just decided not to save at all for whatever reason.Anyway the good news, for me at least, is that I was committed enough to getting this game working that I went ahead and tried the mod and it actually does work and fix the game to have a manual save, so I'll be able to tolerate playing it now. Annoying that it needed a mod to fix but I'll take what I can get. It's one of the only mods on Nexusmods right now, shouldn't be hard to find. I completely understand anyone who doesn't want to play the game after the save fucking up, just thought I'd leave a solution here in case anyone needs it, you always hate being in that situation where you scour the internet and the only answer to your problem is someone going "Nevermind, figured it out!"
