Half Life can't be made if you don't have Marc Laidlaw, and he retired. Epistle 3 was the end of the "Episodes" and HL2 or Ep3 ended as ambiguously as HL1, so the series simply ended and it's over.Jay Pinkerton or Erik Wolpaw don't have what it takes to make an original story, and the whole skeleton of HL Alyx's story was already there, written by another writer by the time they had to take over the project, and all they came up with was the Ep2 Nostalgia-ending. Freeing G-man from his prison was already animated and put into the version they were asked to rewrite, and the only point of contention was that some characters acted out of character (like Eli), and that G-man's reward was atrocious, so all they did was fix some of the dialogue and rewrite the finale so that you're sent back to Ep2 and fanon Alternative Ep3 and HL3 into existence.HL3 won't be good. But if they actually got Marc Laidlaw back to write it for the time being, it might be good.
