I dont think people realize how far VR has come in the past year. It up to monitor quality (looks much more clear in the headset), and is as clear as a water. For those of you that haven't tried VR before, its quite literally like being in the game. If you're in a shop browsing items in Skyrim or something everything looks exactly to scale and it 100% feel like things are in front of you.Theres also 1-3 VR mods that are coming out daily on pc.Every game you could ever want is likely in VR, 6dof + full motion controls. Of course, in the cost department things are still pricey and it may be worth it to you to wait, you need a beefy pc of course, but flatscreen gaming can't compare for first person games, it just can't, the immersion is tenfold. This board has a lot of younger, unemployed people I've known for quite a while, so this post while anger, hurt, and cause a lot of divisiveness since people hate what they cant afford of course, but you guys need to try VR on a high end headset atleast once before you hurl insults.
A Meta Quest 3 is enough? Or are you talking about something more advanced?
You forgot the part where I paint my walls with projectile vomit in 10 minutes of use
Fallout 3 and New Vegas VR mods coming today. I heard that it's some dude's passion project that took years to make and no AI used.
Nigger the issue is the software scene for VR sucks dick unless you're buying faceberg (just kidding the software still sucks and they're imaging your kids to masturbate to)Effectively the sole option for some shit you can just use as a display and not get boxed into VR retard land is the frame, and the second option was the apple vision pro, and that's with the massive fucking asterisk that you had to have a whole mac to stream your actual pc to because apple are fags.
>still on Rift S>(mostly) zero problems with it>Meta software updates a while ago>now the application shits the bed when you pick the HMD up after a couple minutes of standby
i like vr games
>>750621317putting that headset on for the first time really is magical, for just a brief moment, until my brain caught up, it was like i'd stepped into a new world
>>750621317>It up to monitor qualitylol!
>>750621317>It up to monitor quality Come on, OP, they're either $1000 or don't exist
I owned the PSVR and we have a Quest 2 that she won at a company party. On the psvr I liked Superhot and Beat Saber. Skyrim was ok. The Quest is much better. I played a lot of Population 1 and some medieval arena game. But I got tired of having to move the furniture and map the room.
>>750621536You are a genetic invalid.Not my problem.
no use case
>>750622958
>>750621317Don't care, hardware/software tech didn't improve beyond simulators.Still fucking garbage.
>how far VR has come in the past year>look inside>VR game library is almost entirely wii-tier waggleshit or janky modded regular gamesLMAO, far indeed
>>750623990not a use case
>>750621585>no AI usedSo it'll be a buggy mess with the most barebones features? The best projects are autistic passion projects assisted by AI.
>>750621317>how farDoesn't matter atm. Most people can't afford it. You posted a 2k+ headset and the rig to run it decently will cost you north of 5k atm.I own that thing and it's fucking amazing. I could do spreadsheets on it because you could actually read the text. But nobody is putting almost 10k into that unless alrdy hooked.
>>750621317>monitor qualityYeah lemme just drop 1500 on a good headset, 3k on a pc powerful enough to actually hit the full resolution. I have a decent bit of income but even I can't justify dropping thousands on toys like that. I'll keep playing my cheap indie games that entertain me just as much but for less money.
>>750621317I stopped using any vr stuff once kikeberg tried to link it to your facebook, no idea how far along it is
>>750621317VR has been completely static due to Faceberg forcing walled gardens and Valve retreating into proprietary slop solutions. If 2010s VR hadn't existed and they started from scratch in 2019-2020, it'd be farther along by now than VR has currently developed, all of the progress like screens and wireless has been external.Right now VR needs proper open source SLAM tracking that just werks, since it has been over 10 years of everyone using theoretically compatible tech and we still don't have a unified ecosystem for motion tracking and other peripherals.
>>750625225Looks way better than the official Fallout 4 VRhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iAHKrRGOXqg
>>750621317I bought the Steam Frame, it has been my first and only experience with VR. First of I really enjoy it, it's very cool; HL Alyx streamed on ultra from my PC is genuinely some of the most mindblowing shit I've experienced in a decade. However I do have some complaints of VR:>not as convenient, by a longshot, as just sitting down and using the pc/handheld/console>unconnected/separate components that are not easy to store in reach >raccoon mask marks after use>set up involved in setting up, and packing down every time it's usedI'll only use VR if I know I'm not seeing anyone or going anywhere at least an hour or so after I stop using it, due to the gogglemarks. And I have to pack it out of the box/and back each time I use/finish using it, Just leaving a pair of strappy goggles and two controllers laying around doesn't look good, and isn't safe if you've got small kids (or you're a faggot with filthy cats instead)>tl;dr VR is cool, but it's not as comfy as just swamping down in a chair and oogling at a monitor (yet?)
>>750621317I've always wanted to try on a VR headset, but I don't know anybody who has one. I was looking into buying one myself, but the prices are like buying a new console. Little too much just to ''try''.Are having the goggles enough for immersion, or will I *need* those hand joystick controler things and the entire room with the grid and all that?
>>750629762Comfy Ashenvale. I've got a Steam Frame, it does allow navigation with eye-tracking (haven't figured out yet how to "click" without using controllers, if that's possible though. But yeah you need to use those cock-knob controllers 99% of the time. The Steam Frame does not need a grid-thing, I think it's using an infrared camera facing into out into the room to sort of do that internally. It also allows you to have passthrough so you don't have to take the goggles off to check if you're about to walk into a wall or somethingI'd agree €1K is a bit much for a try-out. Are there any hardware/game stores still around in your city/town? Maybe you can persuade them to let you try it out if they sell VR shit
>>750629991There ain't sh*t in my town. But thank you. I'll wait for the prices to go down a bit..
>>750621317VR is nice, but it's hard to justify the price for a simple novelty. That hasn't changed in, what, a decade now?
