I was around when the ps2 came out, no one bought it for the games available, but the hype.
It was understood by everyone that launch was weak but the anticipation of what would come out later given how dominant the ps1 was and the amazing tech is what made people buy it.
If anyone ever said it had a great launch library they are liars or larpers.
