Indie dev is dead. Only AAA companies will survive because they could sue you sorry vibecoder ass into oblivion.

so the last pasant cope is gone, no more

it's fucking ogre
and so is game development

>no more early access hell slop. You are OBLIGATED to release a finished product instead of milking it under the excuse that it's """still in development"""
Explain to me how this is bad.
>>
Geometry streaming is the future.
>>
>>750612041
instead of putting shit on early access they have to finish the game because they're scared they might get cloned

this is a win for gamers
>>
>>750612182
This hasn’t been copied because it actually has some semblance of a story, unlike those roblox games people post about making online.
>>
>>750612339
It's bad because without marketing you won't sell shit.
>>
>>750612041
Aaa has a more flushed out art team.
Indie still has art style to make it differentiably.
Ai vibecoded slop games will all look like final fantasy art.
>>
>>750612375
Still can steal your game.

Low effort shit with no depth that can be easily replicated is dead. Good riddance.

Will this new predicament force EMMM to actually finish Red's game?

Most likely.

AI has merely made it so that low-effort Unity asset flips are now pumped out faster than previous
Low effort indie slop was already all over Steam, and thats not going to change.

In either case, the market will correct itself considering that the costs of making and publishing the game onto Steam will not be recouped by the fact that every other low-effort dev is also pushing out his low effort slop onto the market at the same time
If you have 100 different instances of 'Find the Needle in the Haystack', thats 99 instances of competition eating away what little profit you may have made.

Publish a game on Steam costs at least $100, and that doesnt include however much they spent on the AI model to make their game for them, which at least $20/month, or if their a power user slopper, at least an additional $100/month
If you can truly tell me that that every single one these low effort devs are genuine going to find enough brown people to buy their AI slop game thats indistinguishable from the same AI slop game in the search result next to them to pay back, and IS NOT a porn game, then sure, indie is dead.
But just like how devs try and gamble on making viral streamer bait, most of these slop devs are not going to be lucky and will end up losing money over it.

Sure, some AI games will be successful, especially the porn games, but this wave of slop will temper itself out just because there is too many birds trying to eat of one bowl of birdseed - there's not enough to go around for it to be feasible

>but they can pump out 100 games and shotgun their way to profit
They more they pump out, the more expensive the model has to be in order to fund it, and the more that one success has to recoup the cost of every other game.

TL;DR - AI devs will be the new Unity slop devs crying no one is buying their cookie cutter game.
OP is a fag
>>
>indie dev over because product stolen
>medium dev over because indie dev does it just as well with ai

thank god. it's over. we're free.
>>
>release games worse than the average flash game made for free on Newgrounds
>think you deserve to be paid for it
Good, they should all die

Indie dev has never been better though?

>publish a shitty AI version of a game based off a single screenshot/clip
>has absolutely zero relevance to the original game past the first ten minutes or so and spirals off into its own retarded shit
Unless you're making something that's nothing but a proof of concept/gimmick game, I don't see why you'd be worried about it. He's right to tell the guy trying to extort him to fuck off.

This is a big part of it, as far as I'm concerned. The people doing this shit are just in it for a quick buck, so putting even a small barrier of entry like that in their way makes them reconsider, especially if there's no guarantee they're making that money back (which they probably won't).
>>
>>750619503
>Unless you're making something that's nothing but a proof of concept/gimmick game
What do you think indie games are?
>>
>>750612456
Ok but is it actually his game or does it just look like it? I don't understand what these redditors are complaining about exactly. Is it that AI is effectively copying their game or is it just being used to blackmail retards? Also why is the scammer only asking for 200$ and using the threat of himself spending 100$ to put the recreated game on steam?
>>
>>750612041
nobody cares you worthless retarded turd
>>
>>750619661
Exactly, hence nothing of value was lost.
People trying to make the next low-effort FOTM friendslop are probably shitting themselves, but anyone trying to make an actual video game shouldn't be that worried.
>>
>>750612041
Then I'll simply wait for the clones AFTER release.
>>
>>750612041

Good. I hope all indie developers are scared to release their previews of their games or early access; now they'll actually have to finish it before releasing it.
>>
>>750612456
What's to stop them from publishing the clone even after being bribed?
>>
>>750619674
>Ok but is it actually his game or does it just look like it?
Let's put it this way, anon. Do you think if you fed this image into a chatbot, that it'd create a 1:1 copy of Castlevania, or would it make something that's kind of aesthetically similar but completely different in terms of gameplay and stage design?
>>
>>750612182
nobody wants to steal Toby's shitty gameplay.
>>
>>750619903
Nothing, which is almost certainly their intent anyway. Odds are they're trying to get money out of him to cover their own costs for tokens and the steam publishing fee.

This was proven to be fake btw.

Same guy was literally saying he'd copy games and release them on Steam.
>>
why risking it instead of asking claude to create elden ring, or any successful game, but better?
>>
>>750612417
If AI can effectively copy your game from marketing material then your game wasn't worth a damn. Make something with more depth than Dig a Hole Simulator.
>>
>>750612041
How are they doing the visual assets? Last I messed with agentic coding it was great at coding but couldn't do animations worth shit. Is it just pulling from the demo's assets?
>>
>>750612041
No, kike gatekeeping of games is dead though
>>
>>750619914
I'm fairly confident no AI model is close to being capable of actually making a coherent game on its own without extensive user guidance. It could probably tell from the image that you want a castlevania like platformer and maybe make you something extremely basic badly approximating castlevania with the overall aesthetic style of the image but that's it.
>>
>>750620007
I am genuinely flabbergasted that redditors didn't blindly trust what this guy claimed given it was critical of AI and redditors are on the anti-AI arc right now.

Sure, the cowardly ones.

>Only AAA companies will survive
Not when they're imploding over their marketing budgets and "adult daycare" level dev teams.
>>
AI cannot copy your fucking game. If your stupid ass game is one simple mechanic, then you're no more a developer than AI on its own. If the mechanic is the only thing going for it, and there's no hand crafted levels or progression, then it's not a fucking game.

>I made this mechanic with a bunch of generated levels for it
>Ohhh nooos it got stolen and the AI version is pretty much the same.
>>
>>750612041
thats stupid since you only need the visuals to copy games with ai now. it will still be copied easily as long as they uploaded a video showing it off.
