Dead Space came to be around the time AAA budgets got really inflated going from the 7th to 8th gen. Resident Evil started way earlier, and Japanese AAA companies are more fiscally responsible than western ones. Also EA fucking expected Dead Space to be a multimedia hit right off the bat
