Soulslike has long past lost its meaning imo. A soulslike needs to be pretty rigid in its scope and its gameplay loop. A lot of games have a soulslike combat but the rest of the game isnt a soulslike. For example Mortal Shell 2 is a soulslike. You go around killing enemies for currency that can drop on death, use currency to upgrade stats and weapons, fight boss, then repeat until you reach the end. Combat is lock on balanced around single encounters and taking hits is fatal. You have limited potions that refill whenever you rest at a check point that also resets the world state. That's a soulslike. Meanwhile you also have games that have shit like wall running, air dashing, qtes, actual cinematic cutscenes with voice characters, minigames, and most importantly non-combat gameplay mechanics that just so happen to have a soulslike style combat. That is not a soulslike. That's like calling every game with a level up system an rpg.
