Have you worked on your game this week? Got anything cool to share?

Just use AI and make copy slops

I gave up and have decided to just play games instead

When you have a unit selected, you can hover enemies for little combat forecasts. A player expressed some confusion over certain parts of it so I updated the logic and also gave it a big visual improvement.

Basically, the previous logic was that the game would simulate combats with the assumption that each fighter was on the tile they're currently on and just picked a combat distance that both fighters could fight at, if possible. Instead I made it so it would be based on the movement tile you currently have highlighted. I've also made it so you can hold shift to see what would happen if the enemy initiated the attack on your unit, since different things like passives and such could lead to significantly different outcomes. I think it looks cool.

Define slop

oh no strategy. my brain can't handle. sprites look dope though

kind of sort of

I came up with the concept for my next game which will be so close to the current game that almost all of the learnings from this project will carry over. this gives me hope as it lessens the pressure for this current project to amount to anything commercially or critically. I think the next idea has more potential commercially AND is easier to make. I'm feeling more hopeful now.

I'm aiming for it to be fairly welcoming but I understand that strategy games aren't everyone's thing. Thank you!

18 days still waiting for steam to accept my account. Anyone else in the same boat?

But then you'll never get the fulfillment that comes with being nearly done, having a demo on steam, getting few wishlists, your attempts to market being screaming into the void, and becoming depressed

It's not happening mate they're being flooded with AI slop right now so you're gonna have to wait a few years.

Got random characters with hair spawning. Most character jobs don't have outfits yet so they default to one specific outfit. Also have the basic UI for some character information finished. Currently working on the interior for shops.

tying out a plugin called TileMapLayer3D. Might switch over to gridmaps or crocotile though. Might look better once I make some 3d trees, pillars, chests, etc.
