Post your Ames, post your farms, post how much crippling debt you're in
>>
>>750599606
Who the fuck is gonna pay me for MY chicken? Yeah, Yoh, it's not yours anymore, because you're not taking care of it. I JUST got a farm animal and this happens. Also, fuck you Rin, but I will not be able to get you wool in time. Not when my animal pen is in this condition.
>>
The red exclamation point looks a little ominous. Is Yoh gonna be okay?
Is progressing NPC bonds gonna be in the tutorial? This game is a bit odd about its handholding. There's lots of it in the early game, especially regarding story exposition and unlocking some of the new features. But then the other day I get a mail saying that new seeds are now in stock, because, apparently, I sold enough of my own crops. No tutorial told me how to unlock new seeds, it just happened because I kept farming.
>>
>>750601016
Yoh will be fiiiiiine. As long as you keep paying off your debt that is.

The tutorial is very long but eventually the game is pretty hands-off in what it allows you to do/expects you to figure out. And given the sheer amount of content in the game, the tutorial amounts to less than 0.1% of it in total.

I missed the release despite being interested in the game, so I was surprised it's already out.
Made me think it was digital only in the west and I almost bought it, but saw there's physical too.
What's the difference between the regular digital version that's like $50 and the $70 deluxe physical version that's the only physical one?

The paid DLC is probably going to be a mix of farming and horror, considering their 2 free updates has been entirely farming so they obviously wanna improve it on still. Like they added another farming patch recently, too.

It's easily the best looking farmsim.

It's what Rune Factory 5 could have looked like if they had kept the original hand drawn world like 4 and just went hi res instead of switching to 3d.

>>750619564
The portraits look pretty good here though >>750607321. And it IS their first foray into this kind of thing for a Yomawari game so it doesn't surprise me if some look a little rough.
>>
>>750599606
How interesting is the story and how fun is the nighttime non-farming gameplay? I heard the farming itself is good but it's the spooky stuff and story that has me interested in playing it over other similar games.
>>
>>750621879
The story does get pretty interesting, but it's slowly revealed as you break more and more of the village's rules - and there are some elements that you sorta need to piece together through context clues since they're not overtly stated. The nighttime stuff, once it opens up, is definitely the big highlight; encounters during the night vary depending on the season and year and often constitute puzzle bosses as well as typical chases. You need to learn the mechanics of what you're facing and how best to address it in order to resolve the encounter and that can take a bit of trial and error.

Is there combat?
What do I do in the game?
>>
Komako strikes me as a secret sadist who tortures trapped & wounded animals offscreen.
>>
The story would be funnier if nobody recognized Ame and enslaving random children is just something they did regularly.
>>
>>750613351
Harvest Moon BTN figured this shit out nearly 30 years ago, and for some reason, every other farming game since then refuse to follow suite.

The Daruma operates on red light-green light. Stop moving when it does "DARUMA...FALL DOWN" and exposes its central eye.

>>

>>
>>750627165

>>750627175
>unlock the upgrade tree
Ah, that explains it. I haven't unlocked that yet. This game starts reaaaally slow. Such is life in rural Nihon, I guess.
>>
>>750599606
Any reason to keep the rare white fishies or should I just sell 'em all?
>>
>>750627681
You can cultivate/breed them in a fish tank once the carpenter stuff gets unlocked, to make an infinite money fish farm. Otherwise, Rin wants 3 of them later for a collectible thing. But basically yeah they're just for selling, it's just the process you want to do to get there.
>>
Do items spoil over time?
>>
>>750627796
No inventory/storage items spoil. All plants in ground save for paddy field crops and oybeans die the second seasons change unless a scarecrow is used, though.
>>
>>750625708
Just look at that spread, though.
>>
>>750627863
>the second seasons change
Wew. Like ALL the crops? I've seen some that say that they can be planted all year round etc. Although, the seed descriptions say stuff like
"sold at the store in spring". Like, if I stock up on, say, onion seeds, will I be able to keep planting them in summer? And, if all crops get deleted when seasons change, does that mean there's potentially several days of downtime at the end of the season, because if you plant anything that takes too long to grow it's just a waste?
>>
>>750628025
Yes, all crops unless you use a seasonal scarecrow found from special events at night.

The only things that last through multiple seasons are the seedling/sapling ones that grow into trees, water paddy shit that takes multiple seasons to grow, and tofu which requires instantly dying to become tofu.

And yeah that means you get some free days at the end of the month with not much to do depending on what you plant.
>>
>>750628181
Will the game warn me if I'm about to plant something that will get deleted by season change, or do I have to keep track of it myself? Actually, what the fuck is this game's calendar? There's no months, only seasons. How many days are in a season?
>>
>>750628415
Gotta keep track of it yourself. There's 4 months a year, each moth represents one season, and each month is a convenient 28 days long so you always start a month off on the same day.
>>
Is there anything scarier than going outside at night and just seeing a really tall lady wearing a hat?

I don't like the game. Being given the cold shoulder in the beginning just made me want to flip everyone off, and they won't even allow me to decline prompts. Now I have to jestermaxx via slavery tickets, and lost half a day of work because the game crashed after I went afk 15 minutes. What kind of modern game doesn't allow in-between saving?
Also what does this word mean?

It doesn't. Even Tobari tells you to stop being a bitch boy and doing everything people ask.

I appreciate that the farming simulator part is not a minmax fest, I am just chilling, my fields arent even properly plowed.

I also love how all the villagers go into the diner at night, its so comfy. At least on weekends I think I have to double check.
>>
My goal for today is to break out of tutorial jail. After playing all day yesterday I got to >>750599737(not me). Really liking the game so far, but damn the tutorial phase is long. Im sure I could be making progress faster, but Im making the most out of each day. Got 10k in the bank and working on getting some crops upgraded. Using my 3x5 plot next to the house for just turnips because turnips, and growing 5 of everything else in the big field. Storing 5 of each just incase of requests and shit. Made it to lvl 20 in the mines and smelting up a bunch of copper for when I finally unlock tool upgrades.

Fishing definitely seems like the big money maker, as is the usual case with these types of games. Compaired to the profit margins for growing crops, even catching a bunch of cheep fish is pretty good income, then theres also the SSS rare white eels and shit that sell for 2,500.
>>
>>750632795
my favorite review of the game its really good though
>>
>>750636815
most of spring is a tutorial, just enjoy it and dont worry too much, theres a lot of stuff to unlock.

The story will provide the actual upgrade material for the tools soon. Then when you have all copper you can go full farmer mode
>>
>>750599606
Is this game good? I've seen the trailer and it seemed interesting.
But what exactly is it? Harvest moon with survival mechanics?
>>
>>750636947
A more oldschool harvest moon style game (mnimal mechanics, maximum content) combined with Yomawari.

If you havent played Yomawari, its a game where you run around at night hiding from monsters while trying not to die. So Silent Hill-ish.

Basically you're a child that mysteriously re-appears after being spirited away so the town chief who is a blonde tsundere gives you a farm and massive debt to pay off. Then you realize that the town is kind of fucked up and you need to figure out why.
>>
>>750623127
I'm only in late spring right now and I've been getting the nighttime encounters but I just go back to sleep. Should I already be heading out or waiting for more progression?

From what I understand I can also find cool stuff at night

It's nice for atmosphere and lets you get to know the villagers more (the village being smaller pop is a very good decision) but at the same time fucking hell. Makes me appreciate Stardew letting you just get stuck in within a few days or so barring a couple timelocked quick cutscenes.

Mid Spring Spoilers: The only immersion breaking thing so far for me is how arbitrary the hunting is. Shoot a squirrel enough times and it drops a certificate like an rpg enemy dropping loot, you drop the certificate off and you get animal carcass parts? Fucking why? You already showed a chicken getting fucking eviscerated and the hunters sacrificing a whole ass haunch of meat. This isn't a fish eating only society the bar sells pork dishes

I haven't done it yet myself, but I just read a guide that says you can deliver partial offerings and the fox can come more than once per season, although it's unpredictable. Apparently, while leading you to the shrine, the fox is also supposed to drop one of the offering items you need.
I had everything I needed for the offering already in my bag when I did the first one, and I didn't notice the fox dropping anything but maybe it doesn't drop stuff if you already have it.

He was there every night I went out. On the following night the shrine was already there, and no spawn-in animation. So after doing the fox follow once I think you would be golden. Still a shame the scarecrows only last for 28 days and I cant just have rice year long.
>>
>>750679089
When I leave the coop open on rainy days, it seems like the chickens just don't go outside. Yours went outside?
>>
>>750678936
Nope. The only mechanic for it is if you don't have a livestock heater at winter I believe, and if you have a heater it doesn't matter. They don't go outside in the rain but that just means you can keep it open anyway.

In fact, there's one small mechanic that can ever slightly fuck you over by ever keeping one closed. Sometimes a ghost cow will take up residence in your barn. This cow unsettles the other livestock, which makes their affection raise slower and the only way to get rid of him is to get him outside the barn at night.

>>750679046
>>750679230
The fox and fox shrine appears every night. You only need him to show you to the shrine once every season then you can even skip the fox itself, but it's worth chasing him anyway. There's one season where chasing him is a necessity to get your stamina upgrade in it on year 1.
>>
>>750679310
IDK, its only rained once during my spring and that was b4 I had livestock, so Im just assuming.
>>
The story sure is taking it's time to progress, just realized that the main story is actually tied to the calendar unlike most farming sim games.

Trees need 2 spaces between it and other trees, and need 1 space from anything except ground tiles in order to grow at all. Once it's fully grown you can put whatever next to it, though.

It's less bait and more if you want to beemaxx you need to do it.

Fish in the closest fishing spot in the early morning. There's a chance to catch a crawfish worth 2.5k.
Your crops also level up by being planted enough which makes them more and more profitable. The first upgrade should happen quickly enough for you to notice. Kind of similar to RF4's crop levels but simplified.

I'm glad early game farming isn't absurdly profitable too. It being tied to fishing is much healthier for the ingame economy since it's a bigger timesink

Pickups don't respawn in the same night. How they work is there's specific set locations where things can spawn every night, it's just sometimes nothing will spawn there, sometimes something will. Additionally, there's also spots only rare things will infrequently spawn in that have no common drop. These are everywhere, inside and outside of town.

Sazanka's shit burrows look like this.
>>
can you get hay without a silo or do you need to rush iron to make one before you run out of what you start with?
>>
>>750688234
p sure you can just buy the grass from the store and plant it wherever

i think it was called pasture grass or something
>>
>>750688234
The silo only holds hay, it won't generate any. I never made one because having the hay storage inside the barn and coop go from 45 to 999 didn't sound very appealing when I can just keep 30 stacks of 999 hay in one box.

Hay is gotten by hitting this grass with a scythe. It grows if you leave it alone, and if you don't have you can buy it from Sazanka's store all year round. The animals will also just eat the grass instead of hay if you let them outside and it isn't raining.

>>
>>750691283
You're always going to be short on wood so get chopping. Getting normal wood is extremely easy later but the rarer woods are so fucked I'm considering planting them just to farm them. I suppose I should say again, as I already did on one season with less interesting crop farming, even.

In spring nights there's also a tanuki at the fishing spot near the village entrance. It trades one spring vegetable for a magatama each night. First thing it offers each night (the swirly one) is a rain magatama.

In summer it gets replaced by kappa who just wants 30 cucumbers.

I finished the JP release some time ago and liked the conclusion, even though the 3 artifact hunt segment felt like such filler sometimes (especially the back in forth for the nue's skin). At least the other two are more straightforward and relied less on muh misunderstandings.

Also I never figured out why only Komari turned into a tree when the god woke up, while the other villagers just fell asleep.

The other sprinklers branch off from the shitty sprinkler branch so you're going that way either way. As for do they upgrade directly into the other sprinklers, no. There's 3 sprinklers and they don't directly upgrade to each other, and they only get more expensive to make. But you also have a total of 4 farm plots to fuck with so those old sprinklers can last you a long time before you can even afford to replace them.

got it, thanks

Okay, so to research sprinklers (or anything, really), I need magatamas. And you get them basically by running around at night and picking up shinies? That's all? I know you can trade for 1 per night with the badger. But are shinies the main source? Is there any way to reliably farm a specific magatama type? I'm like 1 away from getting regular sprinklers, but I have like 30 of regular magatamas, and only 3 red/green ones. The blue ones say that you get them on rainy nights, but green and red don't seem to specify the conditions you obtain them at.
>>
>>750712485
Generally they're just on the ground or traded with the seasonal river yokai. You can also buy them on a weekly rotation from Sazanka's store at an inflated price. Boss drops can also lead to getting more easier, but even with all the bosses I've killed I only had one drop a batch of 10 boss items once. Which was nice, but I want more.

Generally certain magatama are easier to find on certain boss nights. Like Red tends to appear on Daruma and maybe Tentacle? So you need a healthy amount of boss variation.
>>
>>750712924
those guys are supposed to be bosses and not just big fuckers you run away from?
>>
>>750712924
Oh, so when you get the daruma announcement at the start of the night, it's not just to signal you which dangers you'll have to avoid tonight, but which drops you can get too? I don't think I have any means of fighting youkai though. Not yet anyway. I only got a bow. Guess I'll just run around like a headless chicken around the town and pick up shinies for the time being.
>>
>>750713496
>>750713506
Yes, the night bosses save for one are all beatable. And the night boss determines the magatama drop trend of the night.

Like Daruma's weakness, for example, is finding the one wooden rock among all the rocks and hitting it with your pickaxe. Now, even with savescumming I'm pretty sure it either just didn't spawn, or it spawned in an unintended location on two different nights.
>>
>>750713817
At what point can you start fighting them?
I've noticed that I can pick up the dropped straw hats from the leg demon, but I don't know what I'm supposed to do with them. It also seems like I can't hit any of the demons with my farm tools.
>>
Damn everyone must be aeons ahead of me, I just started because I had an audio glitch I just managed to fix

>>
>>750714050
They're more puzzles and less fights, and when they appear I believe you should already be able to beat them.

Like the rainy demon you're talking about needs you to place their four hats on the Jizo statues on the east side of time.
Well, one's actually fightable but he's super rare and I've never fucking got him. Or the other rare RNG boss, either. Cunt RNG game.

Tourmaline has a very useful crafting use but the rest are for gifting or selling. I supposed it's possible there's some furniture set I don't have that might require it but I still don't have if it that's the case.

Sapphire, Amethyst, and Rose? Quartz can used to buy a specific ornament later, but I believe you only need 5 of each.

I haven't actually done a horse contest myself yet so I don't know if it unlocks anything. Probably doesn't and even it does it's probably just another horse with a different coat.
