I couldn't finish my first King's Field IV playthrough before release. I guess I'll have to play both at the same time.
It's going to be a high bar to match since King's Field is blowing all my expectations away so far.
>>
>>750599728
Kingsfield had waaaaaay better combat. In this game you just kite backwards
>>
>>750599974
These games arent about the gameplay retard.

>>750599470
Oh shit.. this comes out tomorrow? Always excited for kingsfield like games. Verho curse of face is another one thats good, that dev is good at making games that capture the same vibe as early fromsoft games. Thats whats important. If queens domain doesn't capture the vibe then ill be disappointed.

>King's Field games aren't gameplay games
Do you think exploration isn't gameplay? The combat also has a surprising amount of depth once positioning becomes more than just strafing around a single enemy.

every indie king’s field clone I’ve been memed into playing sucked
this one will be the same

Improving on a shitty game is at least an achievable goal.

Probably barred from that due to their record.

How would anyone know? All they due is post game updates since 2016, they've completely abandoned all social media other than that.

will I like this if I liked Lunacid?
>>
>>750601720
I liked the demo and sank thirty some hours into Lunacid. So maybe.
>>
>>750601527
Nah I beat them all back in the day (not 1 because it didn't come out) and they were all really shite. If you were around when they actually came out you'd know that the gameplay was always criticized for being slow and primitive. The selling point was the graphical fidelity on the PS1 being surprisingly good.
That fidelity came at the expense of everything, including gameplay. Primarily gameplay.
>>
>>750601720
I liked Verho and Lunacid both and enjoyed this one a lot.
>>
>>750601720
If you're not a KF fundamentalist like most KF fans there's no reason to not enjoy a game that's 90% the same thing. It's not like KFs were ever jank free games with a perfect formula and high production value. I also enjoyed Lunacid and the demo of this game. I just thought the music sucked ass in the demo. In my opinion what makes a good KF is not really second to second gameplay. It's the dungeon design and feeling of progression that makes you enjoy going deeper and deeper and explore every nook and cranny.
That's why lunacid hit the spot for me despite the frantic and less somehow even less challenging second to second gameplay. In this regard the demo showed a lot of promise.
>>750601815
For some reason KF fans NEED the gameplay to be slow which is surprising to me because I can't understand how it would be the draw for anyone considering how unchallenging and simplistic it is. And I say this a someone who played (and thoroughly enjoyed) KF4 PAL version which on top of being badly translated is even slower in many ways than the US version which is already the slowest KF.

Literally every KF fan tells you to use mods to speed the game up a little in the current day. None of them like that it is slow.
>>
>>750603074
I never heard of these mods. No one ever mentioned them it the threads I've been in I just raw dogged them it's not that bad really. You also have never been in a lunacid thread where they complain about it being fast non stop.
>>
>>750603397
Maybe it's me coming from Morrowind but I liked that you could be fast.
>>
This game sucked
>>
The game looks great and I'm going to buy it, but I know the whole (shitty) air dash gimmick is going to be a pain and the devs will insist on it.
>>750599626
I liked it but it had a couple of flaws:
>enemies chasing you forever
>the laser eyes
Great music too, felt very KF-like.
>>
>>750603930
>Great music too
>>
>>750602603
The problem with Lunacid being fast is that the game isn't really designed around it, and enemies have no answer to the player's mobility and infinite spammable ranged attacks.

King's Field doesn't "need" to be slow, and its slowness is a result of a series of compromises rather than a real design choice, but I do also think the games would lose something if you could blast around the map like in Unreal Tournament or something. There does come a point where the player's speed is too high for an atmospheric game centered around exploration.
>>
Is it going to be the full game or nigger access ?
>>
>>750599470
I liked the demo and I was pleased to see this come up on my Steam calendar. I'm not super in the mood for that kind of game right now so I'll probably wait for a sale but I am looking forward to it. I'm honestly surprised to see a thread about QD, it's easy to forget that there are people on /v/ who play video games.
>>
>>750604505
It could have been turned down a smidge I agree but having the ability to build yourself up into some kind of spell chucking blur is fun also. If it's fun in morrowind it can be fun there too. I also felt like you got fast precisely at the point when you're close to the end or running around the map and backtracking to find secrets and the other endings so that felt like the right point to become overpowered. These games are always hardest at the beginning anyway.
>>
this game is bad circlestrafes completely breaks all combat on every enemy including the skeleton boss in the demo. if you want kings field you have to give the player slow shitty movement that cant break the whole game.
>>
>>750604420
It could fit right in KF IV, you faggot poser
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H8RjdTI6Q3E
>>
>>750605080
But you could beat all King's Field games by circle strafing.
>>
>>750605831
yeah but not as bad as this, it completely breaks the mob ai
>>
Oh right, now that the game's coming out we gotta have the mandatory contrarian posts
>>
>>750605080
the fight is in a small circular arena and he has big reach. if you couldn't strafe him he'd hit you every time. also strafing is slower than running forward. you are running to his side, not strafing. big difference.
>>
>>750599470
the demo for this was garbage holy fuck maybe the devs should just stick to making walking simulators to wank off vinny

>>
>>750599470

That's a low bar, King's Field are interesting but pretty janky games. People suck them off for internet cred but the number of people who've actually played a King's Field (let alone beat one) is way lower than the number of people talking them up.
>>
I played lunacid for 2 hours and hated it. Combat was super boring and "exploration" was just holding w with there being nothing interesting to find. Maybe it gets better later but I dunno. Is there any chance I'd like this new game?

It gets much easier and more confusing at the same time.
Levels become more maze-like but combat is trivial once you find any ranged weapon. I like getting lost and struggle so I wish it wasn't so easy.
>>
Reinstalled the game to show what I meant by circle strafing ruining everything about combat, this works on every enemy in the game.
>>
>>750599470
does the Queen have massive tits? This is important to whether or not I will boughted it

>>
>>750608329
Having full mouse control and strafing makes those game far easier.
Awful controls and framerate were huge part of difficulty in King's Field, but it wasn't "fun" difficulty.
