Early game I'd say finding, hacking and repairing Sentinel ships is the best way. Then you can get a good multi tool and scanner upgrades along with food with mad scanning bonuses to get even more and faster, freighter is also a decent option but not as good
For nanites you'll have to make a nanite farm, a pretty long chore, especially if you're unlucky. But still doesn't take nearly as much time as making nanites naturally

I can't wait to go to these places to find things that do nothing and beam them onto my ship to sell them for the same currency for unrelated cosmetics, bros.
