>Display only games working on Linux. Is this little penguin icon new? I've been using Linux for a week and I only see it now. Has this been added in a recent update? That's pretty cool. Although I've already manually hidden the games I can't run anymore, it makes me feel at peace. Happy, even.
>>750591585>Has this been added in a recent update?mostly since steamdeck launch so it has been there for a while now
>>750591585uh, I didnt notice it either, but desu im not sorting my library for games that work on linux, if a game is in my library I've already made my due diligence
Holy shit just use windows, freaks.
It's been around for a long time but it's pretty pointless post-Proton. I just checked and it hides a bunch of games I know work, even some with native builds. No idea what criteria it's actually checking for.
>>750592841Oh that's interesting, thanks for pointing it out.>even some with native buildsThat makes things even more interesting, I have to get to the bottom of this. First I'll create a Steam collection with all the games hidden by the penguin, then I'll verify the store page of each one of them until I find one which does show native support. Then we'll figure out why if I find some info.
>>750593475i think it just hides games that are marked unsupported on steam deck
>>750592484I don't think I will
I have already hidden the games I know don't work on Linux even with Proton, basically the Battlefield series and a couple that run a kernel-level anti-cheat.>>750593523No way Valve do us like this bro. Some games would run on SteamOS without Steam Deck support. The Steam Deck has hardware limitations besides Linux, that's how I think they measure the compatibility with it. Wait so SteamOS was created in 2013 to be implemented in their gadgets like the Steam Link and the "Big Picture mode" among other things. The Steam Deck came out in 2022. Doesn't add up.I'll do what I planned with the Steam collection trick and data collection and I'll post a conclusion later or in another thread. Doing tough guy journalism tonight.
I'm talking straight out my ass but I can confidently say the Steam Deck isn't the basis from which they measure Linux compatibility. Valve have been contributing to the kernel since 2013 for sure.
>click the penguin>only 3 games drop off my librarylol?
Yeah so we take Buckshot Roulette that has native Linux support, works flawlessly and everything, but no Steam Deck support. Gets hidden by the penguin. We take the ARC Raiders that has no native Linux support but works on Steam Deck. Doesn't get hidden by the penguin. And apparently from what I can gather online it's pretty much random. Valve really be doing it to us like that. Now I don't feel at peace anymore, just puzzled.>>750594795kekzozzle evenSo it's pretty much meaningless. The only games that probably truly don't run on Linux have kernel-level anti-cheat.
>>750591585>Using LinuxAislop
>>750591585It has been there for a long time and I'm pretty sure it doesn't work correctly, unless it has been changed recently.
nice
>>750591585it's literally older than Proton
