Eiji Aonuma feels like the physical manifestation of all those tacky jokes people make about Japanese devs.
>>
>>750568059
What jokes for example? I don't work in software development so I don't know any developer jokes
>>
>hourly OoTsnoy seething thread
>>
I thought it was common knowledge that instead of programming socks japanese developers put on gyaru make up
>>
>>750568408
No Gyarou?
>>
>creates your favorite Zelda games in your path
>>
>>750570086
Even ALTTP?
>>
>>750571707
especially LTTP 2

Koizumi and Fujibayashi(pre 2008) are responsible for the best Zelda games.
>>
>>750571993
I meant the original but if we're being disingenuous then sure lets go with that.
>>
Koizumi should have been given Zelda.
>>
>>750572286
i still think that they deranked him to direct cuck because they were jealous.
every direct he does he has to be humiliated in some way.
>>
>>750572286
>Aonuma always wants to focus on new gameplay gimmicks and mechanics at the expensive of story and narrative
>Koizumi wants to insert narratives into the gameplay-oriented Mario series
They really should have flipped them.
>>
>>750572459
Ironically Koizumi's contributions to Mario were better than most of Aonuma's contributions to Zelda. Doubly so given that Koizumi never got past the 1st stage of Mario IIRC.
>>
>>750572459
I love Mario Galaxy and Odyssey and wouldn't want to sacrifice them. I don't know what the hell Aonuma would have done to Mario, considering he never recovered from critics telling him Water Temple was "too hard" and dumbed down all his future Zelda level designs for the rest of time.
>>
>>750573229
I wouldn't even want him on Pikmin or Kirby at this point.
>>

>Aonuma always wants to focus on new gameplay gimmicks and mechanics at the expensive of story and narrative

are you fucking retarded?
all aonuma has done is sacrifice free flow, gameplay expression and game pacing in favour of presentation and safety railing everything.

the way you completely misunderstand what he has done and is doing still (as far as can be told by looking at OoT Remake footage) unironically made me angry for a second
>>
>>750572459
BotW/TotK was a tonedeaf and gay approach to Zelda, as was SS while Mario Odyssey is the best mario game since SM64. And odyssey was great because it let us play the game and have player skill expression and the game had basically no filler compared to what's standart now.

the gameplay to yapping ratio in Odyssey is similar to dark souls 1

>never recovered from critics telling him Water Temple was "too hard"
Aonuma loves the water temple, dipshit. He has an interview where he said his only regret is the constant pausing to switch out iron boots.
>>
I don't know much about Aonuma, but I get the sense he doesn't really get the appeal of the older Zelda games. I heard he was a toy maker, and maybe the BotW style of sandbox game appeals to his sensibilities more. I liked WW and aspects of TP, but never thought they were better than OoT.
>>
>>750574481
You fags dont understand the appeal of Zelda, it wasn't the dungeons. It runs deeper than that. Puzzles do not need to be isolated to a closed environment.
>>
>>750574481
I really don't know what he even likes about games when all the facets that have increased with each new release that he has worked on was story, cutscenes, handholding and guiding tours instead of exploration, with the open world zeldas being a deviation into the other extreme.

more and more I get the feeling that guy doesn't even like videogames. he likes stories and tinkering
>>
>>750574368
>He has an interview where he said his only regret is the constant pausing to switch out iron boots
Yes, this is what mindbroke him into never making a good dungeon again. BotW and TotK dungeons are glorified shrines with their bland "find the five terminals" garbage. Wind Temple in TotK barely takes longer than the fucking climb up to the Wind Temple.
>>
>>750574701
Even that barely increased since all the story cutscenes are fucking copy/pasted now.
>>
>>750574701
This is kind of what I meant about him being a living example of those tacky (and xenophobic) jokes about Japanese game directors people make. Like even though Kojima and Nomura often look to outside influences and put them in their games they still feel like they put more care and effort into meshing them together. Which is more than I could say for Aonuma
>>
>>750570086
Everything good zelda related is Koizumi's work.
Everything bad zelda related is Aonuma's work.
This is my reality and I reject any other.
>>
>>750574161
Lots of people do that even so called art appreciators.
>>
>>750575590
>>750570086
>>750572221
Aonuma is completely responsible for the puzzle dungeon design. He hates his own skillset lmao
>>
>>750578271
his dungeons would be more interesting if the players werent told the solution to everything and being railroaded constantly.

OoT/MM had some great ones though
>>
>>750579991
What happened to him afterwarde
>>
>>750578271
He's been trying to turn Zelda into Marvelous.
