I think part of the reason Japs are like this is their 2nd hand game market. In Japan, you can get a used copy of almost any retro game you want in good condition for a very reasonable price. In the west, the 2nd hand game market is completely fucked for any generation before the 7th (and even then, I've noticed prices for those games slowly ticking up). This is the issue with Americanization all over the world, not just in Asia. Not to sound like a leftist, but I really hate how the US has forced its economic and political systems onto every other country in its orbit without regard for the long term consequences.
