Why don't you play old games, /v/? You don't need 5090 or 64GB RAM to play them.
>>
Because they feel dated and boring. The only reason why you care about old games is because you grew up with them. It's nostalgia.

I straight up developed RSI from playing this game.
I have to wear these dumbass gloves now.
>>
>>750555804
Started playing Daggerfall unity after playing Morrowind, doesn't feel as dated as it used too.
>>750555919
kys jeet
>>
>>750556625
>Daggerfall unity
why would it feel dated, it's a new game. it plays nothing like the real daggerfall
>>
>>750557058
it's still Daggerfall at it's core.
>>
>>750557246
I mean you're basically playing Devil's Spire: Falls at that point, but hey as long as you're having fun.
>>

i dont play new games at all except a few indie game every now and then
>>
>>750555804
But I do.
>>
>>750557315
That's completely different.
>>
Played them while they were new. I still play new games actually. In 20 years you'll be playing the old games you missed out on that I'm enjoying right this minute.
>>
>>750555804
but I do
>>

No I'm consuming what is unpopular at the time. Can't you read? Don't you get it?
>>
>>750557681
Nah, I don't play shit games on purpose, nor will anyone remember that disposable trash. The games I mean, not you.
>>
>>750555990
Choline helps a lot with carpal tunnel.
You can supplement it or eat delicious red meat. Your choice.
You still have to wear the braces to sleep but the tingles will go away.
>>
>>750558252
You have no idea what games I play so you assertion they are bad is not credible. Sorry better luck next time little loser maybe enroll in a basic logic class to avoid such simple deflections fuck are you one fucking stupid fuckhead jesus christ.
>>
>>750555804
I already played them all.

I don't need to specifically play older games to find low requirements
>>
>>750555804
Dos games run fine but most early 3D, god forbid it needed voodoo is a hassle to run

>The only reason why you care about old games is because you grew up with them. It's nostalgia.
sometimes the boomers are right
>play age of wonders 2, love it, look forward age of wonders 3 which is soon coming out
>older friend tells me to play master of magic
>look it up, looks too old
>other older friend also tells me to play master of magic
>try it
>age of wonders is now shit in comparison

I have to keep up with the tech, no matter what
>>
That's what I've been mostly playing. A fuck ton of older games.
>>
>>750555804
Most of the games I play barely require 8GB to run so the card crisis hasn't affected me as much as I thought it would.
>>750555919
Thank you for continuing to post so Aqua OPs on /v/ can be intrinsically linked to the most dogshit opinions.
>>
>>750566251
she's right you know if you stop and think about it
>>
>>750555804
Because I grew up with good 3D action games and I'm not interested in archaic boomer games as a result.

>building a colony next to a native village
Noob.
>>
>>750555804
Eyyyy, colonization.
A great game. The civ4 remake is ALMOST a full remake too.
I know there is a mod or two that fixes the few fucked up places, like education.
But there are also a few mods that go too far and bloat the game massively.

based king of dragon pass enjoyer
>>
Recently picked up 4 Stronghold titles for 5 dollarydoos. I can see why people would latch onto this game but maaaaaan you can tell it was from a different gaming era. The maps sizes are hecking TINY so macro is very important while the animations are so slow that micro is almost unnecessary. I haven't played much into it but something tells me the later titles start to gear toward tower defense and turtling rather than oppressive aggression.
>>
>>750555804
but i just played col like 2-3 months ago
>>
Cause they're shallow dogshit, any modern indie game mogs them
>>

Maybe not the 5090.

>old games
That looks like something from 2023.
>>
>>750555804
The reason faggotbrained niggers don't like or care to play old - pre 1997 - games, is because they generally demand three things that modern games to not, in anyway shape or form demand: 1 attention/focus, 2 reading comprehension/theater of the mind, 3 intuiting mechanics based on trial and error/patience/the ability to read manuals

Modern games just lets you turn off your brain and drool while you win. Even most "strategy" games.
>>
>>750567487
Didn't this unofficial-official remake-sequel or whatever the fuck it was, remove a lot of cool shit for "woke" political reasons?
KoDP is great, but I wouldn't touch this new one, based on what I've heard of it
>>
>>750555804
I don't want to genocide natives
>>
>>750567629
....but you're not gonna be stopped!
>>
>>750567629
That's quite nice of you. Amerindians are not native to the Americas however, the Scandinavian man is.
>>
>>750567659
Aren't most Scandinavians not native to Scandinavia using that logic? First ever populators of the region mostly getting displaced and replaced by steppe peoples afterwards
>>
>>750567617
Runequest and Glorantha transcend the current culture war. Both sides would see it as highly problematic.
I just don't like Argrath and think he's a Mary Sue.
>>
>>750567760
No, native to both goofball
>>
>>750567202
Doesn't really matter that much. They will hate you anyway.
>>
>>750567760

That's Finland only
>>
>>750569017
Indo Europeans were steppe people.

>>
>>750555804
I always liked Colonization more than Civ 1.
Unfortunately the Civ 4 version feels like shit to play because it's on the Civ 4 engine.
>>
>>750555804
But anon...

>>750555804
I play both old games and new games. Some old games I keep going back to every now and then. I played the game you posted last year even. But I've also played Civilization 4 colonization several times (with the RAR mod). I play fallout 4 but I've also recently replayed 1,2, 3 and new vegas. Sometimes I can get into an old game that I haven't played when I was young but that's more rare.
>>
>>750567617
Six Ages 2 is great, at least as good as KoDP. Six Ages 1 isn't bad either, it's just not as good as the others.
>>
>>750565732
Huh? I love all of those games. AoW is like if MoM dialed back on magic slightly and focused more on tactical combat, with 3 doing it the best of the entire series.
>>
>>750570568
I played KoDP for 5 hours and got bored
I just kept attacking enemies and easily winning which give me shitloads of mana for the myths or whatever they were called
All seemed kinda pointless and had 0 friction
>>
>>750565949
I swear this was the best game on the entire system. Pisses me off that the Returns series wasn't faithful to real Shadowrun rules when these guys managed it to a shocking degree on hardware from 1988.
>>
>>750570646
Direct your retardation elsewhere.
>>
>>750570775
>didn't tell me how this game he supposedly loves is fun
Okay then, I will continue posting this every time I see the game mentioned
>>
I NEED a super computer to play old games, you just don't understand!
>>
>>750555804
I really like the resource management aspects of Colonization, having cities dedicated to producing certain materials and creating big supply chains is a lot of fun. Annoying that trading with natives trivializes a lot of the game, you can get like 1000 gold every turn. I would love to see a modern 4x take on it, especially with a more interesting setting like Alpha Centauri.
>>
>>750555804
I do.
>>
>>750555804
ah but anon I DO have a 5090 and 32GB of RAM and yet I still play minecraft, pixel games and even old DOS games when I'm not doing my quarterly VR stint (or RDR2 recently)
>>
>>750571757
You're a real gangster to be playing that.
>>
>>750571757
Ecstatica? Demo for that was hard af, never got far. Seen it on sale recently and considered buying and trying. Been a very long time.
>>
>>750571968
>load up fancy new VR game
>play for 30 mins
>load up N64 game ported to VR
>play for an hour
>load up Raptor: Call of the Shadows or the Commander Keen collection
>2 hours easily
>>
Having a decent time with descent. Using whatever source port it was that google showed me first. Kind of wish I still had a joystick around but its almost certainly not worth it, as immersive as it would be.
>>
>>750572345
I've mapped it to a controller and it plays great. It isn't a long game once you figure out what you're supposed to be doing. Bullying is also part of the experience, I recommend going in blind.
>>
>>750572441
Pretty much. Sucks that when you grow up you have money but less energy to play after work. VR can be AMAZING but vs a comfy controller game between dinner and bed, VR is often the loser

>>750572528
It looks like it will be comfy and ball breaking like games always were as a kid. I will keep this in mind for next purchase. I am trying to clear my backlog. Subnautica is supposed to be great in modded VR. Bought it years ago, haven't even installed it yet. Same for Robocop.

Anyone else have a category in Steam to remind yourself of shit you've bought but not played yet so you stop buying new shit just coz it's on sale
>>
>>750571757
>got a remaster
>sanitarium is getting a remaster
>fucking dark earth is getting a remaster
what the fuck are they doing, who asked for this? surely anyone playing these games can easily use dosbox
>>
>>750573501
>who asked for this?
It was I who requested this.
