You can try to rush it, but unless you're playing on easy mode, it's going to get pretty rough. You don't get locked out of anything, but a small handful of things become a bit awkward with continuity issues. Nothing too major, but a little odd. 2/3 of the DLC features will be available long before you have to beat the game, so to not ruin it for yourself, just play it organically. The story isn't going anywhere.

I was following the story but doing al side content before I moved on.
I dropped it when I literally just got to crimson desert. the story took me there. i didnt actually go into the desert I was just at the outskirts.
I spent like 150 hours in hernand, fully exploring.game is top tier.
i stopped playing because IRL and the constant patches were annoying me so I thought I will wait for a complete edition.
i didnt even expect they ere gonna do a DLC.
In retrospect i wish I had just waited before buying it but I didnt know how god tier PA are at supporting their games and would be patching it like every week or so for a year.

I was at the start of chapter 9.

I explored all of hernand, pailune up to the north forest, south east demeniss then just completed the deminiess story and then it teleported me to the outskirts of crimson desert (if I remember correctly)
I was planning on just methodically exploring the map. Well i was.
Such a great game to explore.
I did make some mistakes like I found the castle with the spider boss and the dwarvern contraption well before the quests took me there. Wasted time trying to figure it out but you cant actually activate it until the quest.
So in the future I think i might just stick to doing 1 main or side quest at a time and B line only that quest. Not fully explore until much later.

You're going too far in the other direction. The game has literally been updated to strip out a lot of its sovl. It needed more inventory space, and the inventory itself revamped, among a couple other things. But they dumbed down all the puzzles to literal toddler tier with a bright spotlight highlighting exactly what you need to hit, and everything is completely explicit minus maybe one or two puzzles in the entire game. And lets not get started on the dumbed down enemy AI too.

Inventory was an issue to begin with, originally all our shit was stored in the camps fun area, they added personal space. fuck knows why the game released without it.
Still now they have all the locked shit like the 3 characters starter weapons still in your inventory. no way to get rid of them.

I restarted and most puzzles seem unchanged, at least the strong box puzzles and abyss gear puzzles still dont explicitly tell you the answer. They added some spot lights on the things youre supposed to force palm in the abyss, mainly the giant gear on the wall and the vent that flips 180 because they weren't obvious they were meant to be palmed in 1.0

The enhanced version changes the story to add more linkage between the plot points, and they changed the quests so that more are available earlier alongside the main quest. The main story is significantly better now and almost serviceable
