Murcielago is YrYr imouto running in Square Enix Young Gangan magazine from August 2013.

Murcielago feels like an obviously male written yuri, unlike MahoAko, for some reason. I think the characters need to have some stronger and more colourful personality, and we don't have enough wholesome moments and character development.
    >>
    >>4507193
I'm pretty sure the author is a woman since they have a feminine name

And does anyone have downloads for vol 24 and 25?
    >>

This is the dumbest bait I have ever read. Hurr durr, reverse the facts and hope people get upset about it. We all know it's the other way around, move on.
    >>
    >>4508246
Author is indeed a guy, but that comment about the characters not having personality still makes zero sense because Murciélago has a very adequate amount of wholesome moments and character exploration, and I admit this series has its flaws. (I've almost given up on it multiple times in the past couple years before it hooked me back in)
And to answer your question, I don't have downloads, but there are a few third-party sites still keeping up with the English release like this one here: https://www.mangago.me/read-manga/murcielago/
Just an addition but that raw site linked in the OP also doesn't work anymore so I figured I'd give one that's still up: https://rawfree.ch/manga-raw/%e3%83%a0%e3%83%ab%e3%82%b7%e3%82%a8%e3%83%a9%e3%82%b4-murcielago-raw-free/

Going by machine translations of the pics…one of the cop’s male cousins or something relatives killed their abusive father, getting the two brothers sent to jail while the little sister goes to foster care and then now attacked her abusive foster parents as a teen? Honestly can’t keep track of what’s happening anymore

    https://klz9.com/murcielago-raw.html
It looks like raws of a new chapter (202) are up now; feeling less interested in waiting for the English translations so I might drop it and come back after a couple years again to read new volumes in bulk.

I would say why do it in the first place but then this season had Dorohedoro s2 with graphic gore and Barbie doll anatomy on the women.

Murcielago really obviously has more "nerdy woman who usually reads BL and/or josei smut but is open to yuri" appeal, if you have experience with Japanese fans and not just lame westerners. Compare the gender ratios here:

What I hope for: Romi Park reprising her role as Kuroko.
    >What will it adapt?
Up to the ending of the rainy day arc would be the most ideal pacing-wise but I get the feeling they're gonna cram in as many chapters as they can.
    >What merch will it get?
Posters and figures. I pray they won't go all-out with the otaku male pandering for the lesbian characters (yes, I recognize the irony in this statement).

I mean you could very easily say Murcielago is fetishistic in its approach to lesbianism but the same applies to stuff the women I'm talking about draw & like (again look at fujo genderbend yuri art). Sometimes you'll read comments like "most yuri is not hardcore enough and too moe and cutesy" from them. Watanare always struck me as the kind of thing that would have a sausagefest fanbase but Murcielago basically has "Tumblr sexyman" vibes if the Tumblr sexyman was a large-breasted girl.

My problem with extremely male otaku centric yuri is how many are drawn to it because they view it as "purer and wholesomer" which tends to result in less basic human honesty and more overly cutesy infantilization, a focus on "SO FRAGILE... SO ELEGANT..." etc
    >>4566225
if it's cheap then it needs to be super well directed & have strong evocative art. good movement would be ideal but yeah
    >>
    >>4566221
    >>4566227
I would definitely say that "male-oriented" and "created by a male" are not the same thing.
Murcielago is the most "created by a male" yuri I can think of with its focus on crime, action, sex at regular intervals, etc. It's not a negative thing, but it is a thing that can be noticed.
but ultimately all these gender stereotypes are kind of bullshit anyway just be glad we finally got an anime

I mean yes? you kind of countered your own point here. a lot of female otaku like this stuff FOR that reason like how they enjoy all-male cast series (for example if they can love Fukumoto series, why can't they love this). the fact that the vibes are like that is the appeal and it fits the kind of character Kuroko is.

    Is that good or bad?
    >>
    >>4574670
Looking at the recent output (and the output of the director, Takashi Naoya), very very bad. If it's anything like the last adaptation they made (Ubel Blatt), it's gonna be censored and rushed to hell and back with terrible animation.
    >>
    >>4574673
Ubel Blatt director is quite worrying. But Staple did do Wedding Rings and Vermeil in Gold uncensored. Maybe their involvement can rescue this somewhat. While far from masterpieces, Staple's productions have also been better in animation and pacing than the disaster called Ubel Blatt. Man what's the point of adapting shit if you're going to censor and rush it and ruin it? I hate the industry
Didn't the author say he preferred no adaptation over shit adaptation? Was that a lie? Did they manage to make him sell out?

    >>
    >>4575150
Clearly I dislike you and I don’t think you’re AI so your point doesn’t stand.
Joke’s aside take a good look at the picture, I don’t know if you have any artistic knowledge but it’s very awkwardly drawn, especially the weird little artifacts at the bottom of the drawing. Look at kuroko’s right hair strand and how it’s blending into the shadow of her pants or how hinako’s hair clip melts into her hair. It’s okay to be excited to have new info about the potential upcoming anime but it’s also okay to point out very suspicious mistakes in the only supposed picture of it.
    >>
    >>4575154
Could it also be possible that the leaker or whoever found only a very low res image of a real visual and AI upscaled it, or is there zero doubt it's partially created with AI?
    >>
    >>4575175
I think that’s a good point but it would have had to have been upscaled so hard that the image became almost unrecognizable. There are way too many tangents and lighting errors present here but it is possible that the picture they found was a really low res, actually great drawing, they fed through AI. I agree with you.

    >>
    >>4576725
That's fine, what really stood out to me in this was the shock factor, stuff like how Kuroko is just consistently and unabashedly depraved as a protagonist to the extent that she'll make a bad situation worse for no conceivable reason other than her personal whims.

    >>
Just got caught up. I really don't think anything really catches up to the "holy shit" factor of the School Destruction arc, but overall I'm pretty satisfied with how consistently the main story has been advancing. I like the idea of stuff being interconnected and how the main story keeps advancing with every arc, even if it's just setting stuff up to pay off later. Also I know it's not a top-tier studio, but there's a lot of stuff in the later arcs that I think would look fantastic if animated properly, at least on a visual level. Also I think the kink factor hasn't gone away, and the author has a sharp mind for creative and exciting sexual scenarios to put the characters in, always a plus!

I don't know if I would call it a complaint, but I'm a little disappointed in how it feels like over the years Kuroko seems to have softened a bit to where she doesn't really feel like a psychopathic mass murderer- there's bits of character development where you can tell Hinako and Chiyo are having a more positive influence on her, but in general it feels like she hasn't done anything genuinely heinous or awful since the Entertainer arc and that part of her personality has been left by the wayside. Also it seems like they forgot the entire plotline of the head homicide detective being low-key gay for Kuroko's handler, which is a shame because I thought that was really funny.
    >>
    >>4577953
    >it feels like she hasn't done anything genuinely heinous or awful since the Entertainer arc and that part of her personality has been left by the wayside.
I don't think it would have played well with how much Kuroko has been expanding her social circle. It's easier to play the no-fucks-given-results-at-any-cost with a sizeable serving of psychopathy with a lone wolf character, which is more of what she was in the begining when her circle was only Chiyo, Hinako and Rinko. But 28 volumes later she has accumulated so many orbiters like some sort of social katamari that I feel she'd have to become less psychopatic almost by force
    >>
    >>4577953
    >>4577955
In a way it's funny, Kuroko is not murdering and being a psychopath willy nilly anymore because she's afraid of what others might think of her, but because that would scare her new harem
    >>
    >>4577955
    >>4577960
I would probably say that it dovetails into my frustration with Kuroko as a character. It seems like she doesn't really have any aims or ambitions beyond wanting to fuck as many beautiful women as possible, which begs the question of why she's so interested in the mystery of cesare.

Girl is traumatized as a kid because her teacher tells her “men and women fall in love so they can have kids and that’s the way it is”.
She realizes later on that she has feelings for a girl in her class and it sends her into a spiral where she starts believing she might be trans since “girls can’t love girls!11!!1”
She has sex with men and women before realizing that she is not a guy, just a lesbian.
And then she goes on to fuck Kuroko to solidify the lesbian in her or whatever Kuroko does.

Not really a pro TS chapter, more like a pro lesbian one imo.

If you mean Japanese yuri accounts, maybe. If you mean westerners then it's probably a matter of "Murcielago is so irrelevant with the usual Bluesky audience to the point where your average anime/manga fan on there has absolutely no idea about the manga's contents (let alone the author's controversies), ergo the small minority of yuri fans looking forward to it can talk about it in a don't-ask-don't tell way". Worth noting is almost everyone from that crowd likes "problematic" shit by "problematic" people, so something being obscure is a godsend. That said the zoomer Tiktok crowd is relatively more likely to fundamentally buy into that stuff since they grew up with those ideas, unlike millennials on Bluesky who started to pretend in the 2010s, so you'll find denouncements of the most obscure yuri manga (saw "don't recommend 'Is My Hobby Weird?', it objectifies poly relationships!").

If it got a REALLY good anime with fantastic production values an direction you'd likely see even zoomers pretending the author drama & offensive elements aren't there to just enjoy the show, but sadly the world isn't cool enough for that. Green Yuri anime isn't the best adaptation approach for me either but it clearly has far more resources/skill put into it >>4615823

Called Kuroko a raging pedophile? I don't see anyone but a few english accounts doing that. I've been following the controversy for a while. I don't think I've ever seen Japanese people criticizing Murcielago's theme. I mean Murcielago isn't even remotely the most problematic or most lolicon yuri series, only westerners are balking at that. In Japanese twitter all I'm seeing is Japanese activists calling out Kana for his highly controversial IRL political position.

I mean, years ago Kana did tweet something along that line, and he still refuses to retract his statement even when pushed. There are many anime and manga and other fictional works with that kind of plot, but Kana is the only one who got probed, and I can't say it's not for no reason.

There are others, but these are all the /u/ relevant characters I have definite VAs for. Obviously with Sentai being Texas-based, a cast like this is extremely unlikely.

Tons of people will be influenced by modern culture warring on some level and Kana just had one moment of positivity about Trump for "triggering people I don't like" reasons + "he talked about the North Korea abductions". https://x.com/yoshimurakana/status/2066110442586468734 Meanwhile people act as if he constantly worships him and defends the Iran war. Not that it's good to make political statements out of spite but it's obvious he's not a diehard MAGA guy + people on the other side often defend stupid shit for the same reason too.

    >He's a crazie.
But for us it's good he is a yuri fanboy crazy level too
    >>
    >>4616239
Then he should be attacking female hating lesbian hating hetshitters, not defending them. I saw Akane's policy page, he literally criticized mayor Shinji Ishimaru for advancing pro gay unionship/marriage policies. Not to mention his lifelong crusade against gender based violence victim protection NGOs. About the other hetshitter, I don't even need to talk about him.
    >>
    >>4616242

    >his lifelong crusade against gender based violence victim protection NGOs
Disingenuous fight on both ends because they're clearly into "porn is harmful", "harmful manga" rhetoric too & many are afraid to criticize them for that (there's no way they'd be ok with Murcielago for one), yet Akane is also a moron for *unilaterally* going after a group that mainly exists for a separate public service. The reasonable approach is to say "help IRL people but drop the censorship rhetoric", which smarter people did (but sadly not enough).
    >>4616229
Not that it's good. but again, saying "I like X because it triggers Y" is very common. If he really was deep into that stuff he would've made it clear by now.
    >>4616257
And yeah, he's made it clear the past years he doesn't agree with most of Akane's views. Clicking "follow" on social media isn't a full endorsement for most people, especially in Japan where you'll also see the most turbo-progressive accounts follow people on the other side, RT them, etc, if they share some kind of common ground.

Murcielago is barely relevant on Bluesky to begin with. I'm not the one who tried to pretend otherwise.

It's what happens when retards go "holy shit twitter/bluesky people hate this" and instead of going "fuck xitter/bluesky retards", they humour and start discussing shit. This is why threads should stay strictly on-topic, and why despite temptation, I never wanted to comment on the author's views or the wether x/bluesky people hate or love the manga
    >>
    >>4616302
    >manga & author involved in controversy, author engages with it

it's relevant. I don't agree with them but the anon upset at Kana is "on-topic" and free to say it too.
    >>
    >>4616304
I'm not opposed to some posts regarding anything relevant from the author like anime or manga news. But any why should we care about anybodies opinion on any topic or whatever their affiliation or favourite band of tea is?

    >>4616305
    >>"nooo you can't talk about this"
Exactly. Everything about any community opinions beyond /u/ should be purged.
    >>
    >>4616305
How is it relevant in the yuri board? Do you want the thread to devolve into politics right vs left bullshit? Unless it threatens to affect the manga or anime, I don't see how it's relevant
I mean, I could say the left are hetshitters too and want lesbians to fuck men who call themselves women and censor manga like this, and further derail the thread into left vs right that are only tangentially related to the topic because the author is target of retards and voiced his politics
Is that what you want?. I certainly don't and thus why stay stritctly on topic is important
    >>
    >>4616314
I'd get it more if it were impeding regular discussion of the manga itself but that's not what was going on here.
    >>
    >>4616325
It's not impeding discussion, but it's using the author's views and some morons outside here posting shit as an excuse to turn the thread into political shit. If instead of poltics this was about him liking some het show, would it be fair to derail into discussing said show?
I'll only ever see this discussion as tangentially related unilt the man starts doing shit like including Trump in the manga or having Kuroko go into right wing rants
    >>
Darn left or right. I want to know if my GOAT Yukina Shuto will be a VA in the show. And who she could play as now that Ran is off the table.

And latinos out there voted for orange lard because he promised low gas prices and non-interventionism. Kana is no different from your run of the mill single issue schmuck. Well I hope he's just a schmuck, not simply dishonest. Either way, people are rightfully appalled.

Sister, even Ericow loved Murcielago, but I guess you're too much of a newfag to know that.

You can be apalled elsewhere. Kill yourself, your politicshit doesn't belong in this thread any more than the author's favourite manga does
    >>
    >>4616915
    >even Ericow loved Murcielago
Erica doesn't have fundamentally bad instincts, though (way better than Bluesky where, as I said, it's barely relevant). She's just conditioned by her US manga/anime reviewer/industry circles into not fully embracing them and airing out contradicting opinions to fit in, either to look good morally (remember when she always called audience-appeal eroticism "loser fanboy", even in by-women-for-women works, and had to go back and change it in old entries because it was so stupid?) or pander to her contemporaries' aesthetically conservative tastes. The first thing she said about Murcielago was pull the "so bad it's good" card (was still doing it as of volume 9) and it took her ages to admit she even likes the art because it's "ugly" (by hyper-pretty anime standards, thus can't get a higher score - and guess what, her contemporaries also have a similarly conservative approach to rating art).
    >Well I hope he's just a schmuck, not simply dishonest
The only other thing he cared about is le orange man commenting on the North Korea abductions controversy, which could be seen as a "partisan" issue in Japan, but then so is nuclear energy (left being the "this is the inherently demonic energy that nuked us" side) so who gives a shit.
    >latinos
And other minorities too, but as much as politicians lie, what do you have to go by aside from campaign promises? He fucking sucks but it's normal to bite the bullet & vote based on your personal interests.
