This picture reminds me of cold harbour in ESO. Because you see these people that have died and in the afterlife they are mining and doing other physical labor. Imagine going to hell and instead of suffering they have you mining blocks of stone and making these corridors.

I've seen the first two movies this week, since last thread made me curious.
    Very nice movies,
A thing that I haven't seen discussed is that "the pain" does indeed gives powers.
Both Julia and frank become supernatural and beyond death, like vampires can rebuild themselves; the doc goes even beyond that, and we descover that the cernobites were indeed humans.
I do wonder if "lmao it's only pain with hooks" is just something that you need to unlock this transformation. Since maybe the higher planes of experience are not a place for a human, you need to be supernatural yourself to survive it, like being able to regen yourself etc.
Of course I dunno nothing about the lore, and even in 1 frank is 'escaping' the cernobites. But I don't understand the plan of the cerno themselves, on one side they say they wanna show you stuff and go beyond, but if you go beyond you are not welcome among them to become a new explorer, but almost an enemy from another faction. But it's just leviathan that gives these kind of powers, and the box is "his" so what's the deal with that?

Clive Barker is a drug addicted homosexual with a thousand diseases, one of them being aids (which he knowingly infected his "boyfriend") with. He's a deranged homo, who used to work as a callboy, and that's what the movie is about. The original book also has the Cenobites just take the box and fly away. If the box is a metaphor for anything, it's his destroyed asshole.
    >>

ESO's rendition of Coldharbour is pretty accurate to how it was described in lore books as far back as Morrowind at least. Ice cold, violently churning cloudy sky, grey stone and sludgy water and totally lifeless except for enslaved souls toiling endlessly and fruitlessly for no reason other than Molag Bal enjoys owning them and forcing them to labor.

He only opened the box for superficial gain, the cenobites value exploring sensation to its fullest and beyond so I guess they didn't care much for Frank being an amateur in comparison.

    >>
    >>224050764
Yeah but they're all increasingly more shitty, though can be enjoyable if you just pretend its a generic horror tv show for background viewing and not a sequence of Hellraiser movies.
    >>
    >>224050764
1-4 and then 10 the rest are shit. although 5 is watchable to an extent because of Craig Sheffer.
    >>
Only Doug Bradley Hellraiser movies should ever be considered as entries into the franchise, even the bad ones.
    >>
    >>224050764
I actually enjoy how Hellraiser inadvertently became an anthology series with Pinhead as the mascot. Pinhead is cool. Cenobites are cool.
    >>
    >>224049158
Frank lacks imagination and is unambitious in his tastes. In the Hellbound Heart he's disappointed when the cenobites show up because he was expected them to be sex wizards with an entourage of harem girls and porn stars.

there is a traditional "hell" in hellraiser, the labytinth is just like some vip lounge
    >>
    >>224049158
Frank isn't as special snowflake as he thought he was.

For direct reference his "hell" is literally spent leather bound to a chair, forced to watch an orb that shows him mundane images of earth. Because that's how boring he really is.
Think about that, the average zoomer has more in common with Frank than Frank does with the cenobites.
