Those old effects scared the piss out of me as a kid. It looked so unnatural. Another example of it was the way the screen got all wonky in the same way when we saw from the werewolf's perspective in Werewolf of Fever Swamp.

this never made sense to me,so they turn her into a mask? what happens to the original spirit inside the haunted mask?
>>224044671From what I understood the other masks were chasing her because they wanted her to wear them and give them life like she did for the titular haunted mask. I have no idea what they could've done if they actually caught her though. I mean what would ever happen if you wore all of them? Would you be like 7 different people controlling one body? Who knows.
>>224044808They just wanted to rape her I think.
>>224044671It's a spooky mask thing, you wouldn't get it.
>>224044847They couldn't do that for the same reason women can't rape anyone. No dicks.

The theme song for this series had no business being as good as it was. They really managed to perfectly capture the children's horror vibe. It's overtly creepy and provokes a sense of impending doom while still feeling lighthearted enough for a kid's show. Plus there's the dog part that just ties the whole thing together.
