Brit here who also enjoys obscure telly. These might not be obscure to Brits but I doubt too many Johnny Foreigners have heard of them:

Spaced - Single cam sitcom (pic related)
Knowing Me, Knowing You, With Alan Partridge - '90s Steve Coogan sitcom
Tribe - Documentary series by Bruce Parry meeting remote tribal people
Ray Mears Extreme Survival - Comfy bushcraft survival series
The Smell of Reeves and Mortimer - Mad sketch comedy
You've Been Framed - Funny home videos, best with Harry Hill
The Royle Family - Single cam sitcom, pretty big in its day
Shooting Stars - Weird but funny celebrity game show with Reeves and Mortimer
Bottom - Multi cam slapstick sitcom with Rick Mayall and Adrian Edmonson

I've got millions of these. Might post more in a bit.

Green Wing was legendarily funny, mostly improvised as well.

Right here's some more:

Jeeves and Wooster - P.G. Wodehouse adaptation with Steven Fry and Hugh Laurie
Trigger Happy TV - Hidden camera prank show
Phonejacker - Phone prank show
Around the World in 80 Days with Michael Palin - Comfy travel documentary series
PhoneShop - Single cam sitcom
The High Life - Single cam sitcom
The Young Ones - '80s Multi cam/sketch style sitcom (pic related)
Fist of Fun - '90s Sketch show with Stewart Lee and Richard Herring

Do you want some more? I can do this all day.

Yes! Watched a few episodes. That's the one with Cartoon Head innit. Enjoyed it, might give it another go. I like Johnny Vegas, he was great on Shooting Stars.

Bottom is absolute madness
believe nothing was good I thought
>>
>>224038284
Damn, I've never even heard of Believe Nothing. Thanks for the rec. Rik Mayall is so good. I need to watch The New Statesman ASAP as well, that looks good.

I've thought of some more.

The Adam and Joe Show - Low budget '90s sketch show (pic related)
The League of Gentlemen - Creepy single cam sitcom
Trick of the Mind - Mentalist and illusionist Derren Brown freaking people out and hypnotising them and that
The Brittas Empire - Single cam sitcom with Chris Barrie (Rimmer from Red Dwarf)
The Greatest Raid of All - One-off WW2 documentary by Jeremy Clarkson about commando raid Operation: Chariot
The Thin Blue Line - Single cam sitcom with Rowan Atkinson and Mark Addy (pic related in the red shirt), who also played Robert Baratheon in Game of Thrones, and who I once saw standing in the queue at a Sainsburys

And seeing him on the left in the pic I did post reminds me of one of the best shows of all time:
The Thick of It - Single cam political sitcom with Peter Capaldi at his best (pic related)

Outside of White Gold, Phoneshop was probably the last good British sitcom.

We need more political comedy kino like The Thick of It and Yes Minister/Yes Prime Minister
>>
>>224039880
>White Gold
Never heard of it but you're right about Phoneshop so I'll check it out.
>>
>>224040208
Politics is so divisive and emotional these days it'd be hard to find one that isn't either SNL Trump-bashing tier self-righteous preaching, or cancelled for not being that.

The Thick of It and Yes Minister/Yes Prime Minister nailed it by focusing on the civil service types and the incompetence of the "higher-ups" rather than the red vs blue partisan hackery of modern political comedy.

Chris Morris' "Jam" is great, also
>>
>>224037143
Darkplace and Snuff Box
Toast of London is pretty great, too

2nd or 3rd season, when its mostly about him, is one of the best things ever
>>
>>224037746
Spaced is absolutely shit and I'm tired of pretending otherwise.
>>
>>224042497
It can't be shit if I enjoyed it immensely. I'm sorry you weren't able to enjoy it but maybe it's just not for you.
