In hindsight, was the DCEU Snyderverse a tragedy of wasted potential or just a steaming pile of dog shit?Personally, I would have liked to see a solo Affleck Batman movie.
Pretty grim when Ben affleck is your best actor
>>224036175Only man of Steel and the Wayne manor scene in BvS are good. Everything else is dogshit.
>>224036175>potentialWhat exactly is this potential? AFAIK there's nothing about this group of movies that's unique other than the particular actors playing particular characters. Is that all there is?
>>224036214Fuck you, nothing about Aquaman was dogshit.
>>224036175If they had explicitly said from the start in all the promotional material that this DC universe would be about a broken "evil" timeline that would culminate in Flashpoint, then people would have been totally on-board, every criticism about "Man of Steel is too brooding", "Man of Murder", "Batman shouldn't kill" "It's all too cynical" would have never happened, if anything people would have been asking for it to be even grittier, and it would have also helped the box office, because people would go to Marvel for the happy quipfest, and DC for the dark violent stuff. They wouldn't have needed to fuck over Ayer and destroy Suicide Squad chasing guardians, they wouldn't have brought in Whedon to "fix" Justice League when Snyder had to step away, and Flash probably wouldn't have taken 10 fucking years to get made. Every mistake of characterisation or writing would have been forgiven because everyone understood that the characters are MEANT to be wrong.Do all of that a throw out a couple happy animated movies for the kids and DC would have been on easy street. But that is Warner Brothers, just throwing sticks and banana peels in their own path.

>>224036175Snyder was just the wrong person for the job. The tone of Man of Steel was off for what Superman should be (although it was fixable if it had gotten a proper sequel) and if you think Batman should be the Punisher that means you just don't like Batman and shouldn't be in charge of adapting him into a movie. There were many baffling casting decisions such as Lex, Flash and Aquaman. Affleck was actually a great casting choice for an older Batman but why do you want an older Batman at the very beginning of your cinematic universe? Using Cyborg at all was a terrible choice although it was probably mandated by DC as they were shoving him in the Justice League in comics at the time. Not using Green Lantern at all was also baffling, in the trailer you even hear Steppenwolf saying there are no Lanterns on Earth but I don't recall that line being in the actual movie. Steppenwolf by the way is such a weird fucking choice for a villain, it's like they just barely had enough restraint to avoid blowing their load on Darkseid immediately.
>>224036175The Snyderverse is MoS,BvS,WW, SS, and ZSJL. Everything else was the Hamadaverse which began with sabatoging Justice League.
>>224037795>If they had explicitly said from the start in all the promotional material that this DC universe would be about a broken "evil" timeline that would culminate in FlashpointBut that was never the idea. There is nothing truly evil about these characters. There is a bit of deconstruction before the obvious reconstruction. See ZSJL/JL. Where are the heroes being evil in that?
