Honestly, that whiny wimp of a kid ruined the whole movie. In the book he’s like 7, but in the movie he’s 10 and still bitching the whole time. Post-apocalyptic dystopia didn’t toughen him up at all? mediocre doomer movie that could have been a classic.

They're beyond homeless and under constant very real threat all day. He's chronically lonely and developmentally stunted by a lack of education and friends and frankly everything else. He annoyed me when I was young and wanted escapism into masculine survival world but now I get it.
