Is this where amerishart TV peaked?
>>
can someone explain what this shit is?

late night TV shows were so devoid of content that they started just interviewing people from internet memes.

What did these people do to become popular? Were people really that enthralled by a father and son duo who were so proud of being Costco customers? Did people really go crazy for some elementary schooler doing a funny facial expression? I get things going viral and becoming a microceleb for some shit for maybe a week before going down as a "you had to be there" internet meme, but these three seem to have somehow maintained relevancy for far longer than I would have thought possible.
Or is it just some sort of astroturfed, industry-plant type of thing that's kept them going

Back in the day you couldn't put immoral or politically incorrect things on TV, unless you put it on late at night when children are sleeping. So late night talk shows were created as a parasocial friendship simulator for single men and husbands that don't want to talk to their wife before bedtime.

Because of #metoo and Donald Trump becoming President, the media stopped trying to appeal to men. People who grew up on the internet could easily find more entertaining content elsewhere.

Nobody watches anymore, so they're desperate to get people to keep watching by any means necessary. Even inviting people on because they're trending online or even pretending they actually care about minorities.

10-15 years from now, you'll all look back on this as being representative of an innocent, simpler times. Just a spoiler for everyone.

If talking late night....probably the Walker Texas Ranger lever.

i dont think so
my hypothesis is that they spent every dollar they made re-investing into self-promotion in the hopes of getting even more famous.

im fairly certain that no one would actually give a shit if these guys did anything but just the absurdity of it kept them going if that makes sense. everything is ironic anymore

I'm nearly 40 and have long since accepted that everything just gets worse. My quality of life peaked somewhere around the 5th grade. There's blips of good here and there, but almost everything just goes down hill. So yes, I agree with you.
