He won the argument, and Affleck's character had to resort to violence.

It was never about who won, it was about exposing Will as the miserable little shit he was at that point that he viewed a good life, career and family as a joke because he never had it or thought he could have it. It could have been anybody that night catching the stray bullet of his misguided rage. I doubt the guy even remembered what Will said to him by the point he was at the other spot with his friends.

I will never understand why men are competitive, even at the highest echelons of academia. Heave you ever been to the University of Chicago? There are college "towns". The University of Chicago is a small city within a city. And no one, except the most learned people in the world, even know it exists. I drove through it the other day. I thought it would never end. No wonder it is the 10th best university in the world.

Who cares who wins an argument? Fags do.
>>
Violence tends to resolve things.

Violence is not the answer. Except in the case of the Iran war that raised our gas prices for no reasons.

Right. Will was the smartest and actually called him out, but if you can't use your intelligence for something it's worthless.

nah, damon won the actual 'intellectual duel' they were having...so the guy had to pull out the 'well...im rich though' card. so damon had to trump it with the 'ill beat you up' card

Damon said he would look back with regret, realizing that he could have acquired the same knowledge with a library card and a few late fees.
Then, the guy with the ponytail said his college degree is worth more than that, as it could provide him and his family with a nice skiing vacation. Meanwhile, Damon couldn't afford a good job and would have to settle for serving fries, proving that knowledge without application is worthless.

>Damon said
damon caught him plagiarizing/passing off direct quotes as his own thoughts/ideas. and in a panic, he resorted to bragging about his future rich guy life. to say he won the argument when caught repeating other's words as his own is disingenuous. and really, damon was getting government/thinktank job offers without the degree/years of loans..so i dont think he even lost in the future/fantasy. and that dude ends up dying in an electric chair at Oz anyway, so it's all moot
