Halloween is slowly dying in my area. Only a few houses have decorations out and I see less and less trick-or-treaters every year. It's pretty depressing to see.

You could start by getting your life together. A 30-year-old with no license and hangs out with teenagers is a little rough, man. I hate to be mean, but come on, get it together.

For your immediate purposes, I don't know what your intentions are here, but if you're trying to get something going with her, she's going to find out pretty quick that you don't drive.

>>224029724
It's hard I'm ngl, I've tried driving several times and I can't get the hang of it. It's like everyone else can put their foot on the gas and control going 20-30mph but when I try doing that I either go 10mph or 60 without even wanting to. I barely put pressure on it and I go super fast, same with turning, I slightly move the wheel and it either jerks violently or doesn't turn enough. I've been trying to get it together but I keep fucking up and I could have lost my virginity years ago if it wasn't for this "not driving" BS

Halloween parties are the only parties I like. It's so easy to talk to people when you have a costume and can identify people's interests by their costumes.

Even a social retard like me can meet a chick and have sex. I remember last time I literally just walked up to a girl who was dressed like a generic fantasy character and she said to my face "I'm my Skyrim character!" so we just talked about Skyrim until we were drunk and made out the rest of the night.

It feels like easy mode. I'm sad I won't be doing shit this year, I'm just giving out candy.

I don't see the point of 'adult' parties at all. I don't drink, I don't dance, I don't enjoy modern music especially not blared so loudly, I find small talk inane, I get uncomfortable after spending extended periods of time in crowds, I don't like being stared at etc.
I don't know who actually enjoys it.

I'd be interested in going to some Halloween event like haunted houses and the like but they're all so commercialized now I have more fun just walking around in the woods or the quiet neighborhoods at night, which I might do tomorrow.

This KIND OF but the worst thing you could possibly do in this situation is make a big deal out of it, like don’t make it some kind of “sit down, we need to talk” or “I have to tell you something” confessional, just drop it super casually and don’t let your crippling insecurity about it the first and foremost thing you exude when discussing it. Let it come up naturally and just go “oh yeah, sometimes I feel like I gotta drive around and stuff but I’ve gotten on well enough so far. Still would be something I’d like to explore in the future, we could go on some really cool hikes” or something along those lines.

Halloween is the best holiday, yes it's primarily for children but that's what makes it good.
The moment Halloween went to shit was when adults started making it about themselves.
Halloween is meant to be a child's first experience of independence, the night they're allowed to roam far beyond their neighbourhoods after dark on their own, under the loose unspoken cooperative supervision and guidance of the community at large.

>>224035533
I would put that under personal grooming and yes, I would prefer clipping my toenails in a steamy hot shower over attending a party.

>>224034619
You should watch something like Pride and Prejudice and try to map our modern social rituals, like house parties, onto the dances of their time. It's easier to realize what's happening with a historic example.

All these rituals are designed with the same overall goals in mind. You gather people together for some event which has a kind of pseudo-moral structure associated with it. If you violate the structure then it's unlikely you can do any real damage - after all, it's just a silly party, right? But the consequences you suffer for that violation can be very severe and real. If you're a 'bad hang' then you're not getting invited back and you're certainly not being rewarded with any kind of sex or romance. Your reputation can even be tarnished permanently.

It's also a way women can see how you interact with other men. You might be charming ordinarily buy if you're getting mocked or humiliated by men at a party, then she knows not to bother with you anymore.
If you're too confident to move from the outskirts into the center of the dance, then you're a loser but for a different reason.
This is why you should be highly skeptical of a BPD girl that insists on taking you to a night club.

There's also a spatial aspect to a lot of this. There are zones of high visibility at house parties or Edwardian dances which have a way of filtering the human capital through them, so that the most 'deserving' are perpetually in the spotlight. This is a highly addictive drug for women, as they can dance or have a fun time knowing that, for hours at a time, they're the focus of everyone's gaze.
If you really don't care at all, I encourage you to try and find one of these high visibility zones and to anchor yourself there. Watch how you're subtly jostled around until you're forced to the outskirts again.
>>
>>224035632
They're not. I was pushing back on the Halloween is lame because it's for children thing.
The only non-lame soulful part of Halloween is the children part of it. The adult part is lame, pushing their cosplay into it.
>>
>>224035643
Yes I know, those social rituals were super gay too and never worked. Everyone's just wearing a mask and pretending and being able to mask successfully just makes you king psychopath who still beats his wife and results in our modern day divorce rates.

Also you're describing the courtly shit that was only meant to reinforce the social hierarchy under the king. The authentic stuff was the village pub gatherings where everyone from the 80 year old grandfathers to 6 year old children participated in together for a night of family friendly merriment.
>>
>>224035681
That's the fundamental conceit of P&P. Mr. Darcy is a good person but behaves poorly at social functions. The sister runs off with a man who appears to check all the right boxes but turns out to be wicked. The social rituals and expectations are always highly exploitable, but then they seem to exist in every society on Earth. You can't really avoid them, so they deserve some analysis.

>The authentic stuff was the village pub gatherings where everyone from the 80 year old grandfathers to 6 year old children participated in together for a night of family friendly merriment.

Very well put. It's so sad to me that this is disappearing, community trust is at an all time low.

Interesting. Only been to a nightclub like 3 times in my life, but I fell in love with the way a girl I saw at a nightclub moved once. Completely non sexual. She seemed to feed off and enjoy my attention, despite my feeling like a bottom feeder looking at an angel.
She's probably long since forgotten about me but I will remember the way she danced in that club for the rest of my life. Probably wouldn't look twice at her on the street.

I learned to dance at 30, was more or less forced at a wedding by a 55 year old woman whose husband was there. just things like the twist or a couple of other things, but it was done repeatedly over several hours to the point where I lost most of my fear of doing it and acquired some basic moves. after that danced a bit at another wedding a month or so later, and then in a bar a month or so after that, and so it continued. over a couple of years of intermittent doing it, I had picked up some moves despite not knowing any particular style, and could dance when I felt like it.
did impress some girls later on, just with not-not being able to, one girl was sort of seduced by a short dance, but mostly it just shows them you're enjoying yourself and don't care what people think.
I'd thought years ago that I'd like to take proper dance classes, just for basic stuff, but wasn't available when they were on, and then lost the urge to after a year or so, which is a pity.

I'm glad you had a good experience and can maybe take away some understanding of why people go to nightclubs. I had something similar myself but all my later visits were just awful. I never received the beautiful feminine vision again and each repeated attempt made me feel surer I was in Hell. I stopped going one night after multiple gay propositions to the point I called my mom to pick me up for fear of being raped.

I'll never understand how weak and inferior a person has to be to need a drrink/drug to be able to enjoy themselves.
it's like they become so terrified of their own personality and what others think of them when they reach their teenage years that the only escape for the rest of their lives is to drug themselves into not being themselves.

>>nah, I can't dance unless I'm drunk
>>nah, I can't talk to people unless I'm drunk

First off your logic is critically flawed. Most people don't NEED alcohol to do any of those things. They are just simply improved with a little bit of liquor. You would know this if you had ever been to a bar or club in your life.
Secondly, 90% of the fat fucking nerds can't and don't talk, dance or socialise even without drinking or drugs
>>
>>224037397
>mostly it just shows them you're enjoying yourself and don't care what people think
Yes I think the confidence in it is a big part of it, but moving to a rhythm in a pleasing way still matters. I've been trying to learn from YouTube videos but I have two left feet, but I do find it fun even alone and it's a good way to exercise a bit. Impressive you picked some things up in one day, that woman must have been a good teacher.
>>224037453
Sounds terrible, I've had a few gay propositions myself but nothing that made me feel unsafe. I would have liked to go to nightclubs more actually but now I'm too old. Maybe if I had gone more I would have had more poor experiences, and I just got lucky the few times I went. Might also matter where you are, what club, and when of course. Only that one time at the nightclub has a girl actually made me spellbound.

The context and direct quotes are important, and like I said I wanted to talk to individual anons. I consider a mass reply more when you quote many anons just to reply to them all with the same thing, not replying individually to multiple anons. That's just avoiding spamming the thread.

for dancing, I anon of this post challenge you personally to sign up for dance classes and to stick with them for at least three to six months, going at least once a week.
pick something easy, some kind of coupes dancing in a set style, ask a dance teacher for advice on what to choose at their school or whatever it is.
you'll be awkward and hate making mistakes, hate making a fool of yourself for the long beginning, but if you consciously become angry at yourself whenever one of those two thoughts pops up and instead just tell yourself:
>stop wasting time and just do it
then after a while you'll find yourself becoming better and over time, beginning to enjoy it.
just repeat over and over until you start to get it.
if it was a computer game you would do that, and eventually master the combination. training your legs/arms/body takes longer, but it's still just as possible.
what you should remember is that the girls you see dancing effortlessly have Ben doing it since they were 5.

it's what's expected at a beginners' class
you're rationalising away possibilities because of your fear of dancing and fear of failure.
rational answer is - go to one for a month or two, if they start actively leaving and the teacher has a frown and furrowed brow, then announce you are leaving because you feel you're the sole reason for the life being drained from the class of appear experts.
then go to a new one for a similar length of time, and leave that one if required by state by-laws
and so on.
each time you'll be slightly better, especially because while enrolled at the class you're practising the moves at home for 30 minutes every day, and trying a few moves in local discos/clubs once a week.
it's easy to make 150 imaginary obstacles to avoid doing something you're afraid of, and they'll all sound fairly convincing to the one making them.
not particularly useful though if you already said "I wish I had learned to dance"

That's because it is admittedly, I'm not saying you immediately need to do that or even ever reach that level. But it will feel like you're them when you plus that cute girl who you've been taking dance classes and improving with over time go to the Halloween party together and dominate on the dance floor with everyone else there cheering you on. That Keerigan guy has only been dancing for 6 years, so it's not completely unattainable either although I'm sure there's some natural talent at play. It all starts with taking the first step and then keeping at it.

beginner session will be learning very simple footwork at a slow pace, probably individually.
simple set patterns, building up over weeks to an actual dance, with 3-4 parts to it.
side step left, then right, then left, then right.
simple motions done enough that they become automatic. then adding to them.
make sure you practise at home afterwards, even ten minutes a day home practice reproducing what you did in class will make a difference. it's a bit like learning a martial art/karate.

main thing is not to think of what others might be thinking, and you'll find you can focus completely on what you're doing.
women love doing this kind of stuff, so you might find more women than men, of a wide age spread.
another thing to try is pottery classes. lots of young/middle aged chicks do it now. nice way to meet people.
if you ever wondered where all the girls are, they're at stuff like this.
it's important to stick with it for at least a few months and be consistent. that way you become halfway able to do it and start to enjoy doing it.

That makes sense actually, I have wondered that. I only see girls at bars or the gym basically. You can't approach them in the gym and it's difficult to approach them at the bar if you aren't chad. A class at least gives you forced interaction like school used to do.
Makes sense, I guess its something to be disciplined about like how I treat the gym.

best way is to just talk to them during the classes. ask for advice, ask how long they've been doing it say you're a bit nervous because it's new for you but that you want to get better.
can be just saying "hi" and "how are you" for a while. then progress to asking how their day was, maybe they talk about work etc, then you can chat a bit about that and so on over the weeks.
it takes the pressure off.
talk with them without the aim of them being your gf or Having Sex, and level up your social skills.
if they seem interested in conversation after a few weeks/months, arrange something outside the class so you can talk more and spend more time together.
it can develop from there.
if you're going to 2-3 different things a week you will level up social skills even faster and have more interests/insight too.
good luck bretheren

It seems I struck a nerve. Hitting a little close to home, am I?

Based upon his post, it’s clearly something that he’s insecure about, and clearly nervous about her finding out, because there’s a possibility that it’s a deal breaker. You’re pretending like it’s a done deal, when it’s obviously not to anyone with basic deductive reasoning.

I’m just being bluntly honest; no self-respecting 19-year-old girl is going to look at a 30-year-old who isn’t even with it enough to perform a basic life function like getting a goddamn driver’s license and think that he’s cool. It’s not cool, and it gets less cool by the year.

By his own admission, he’s only gotten as far as he has through indirect deception.

hire a car with a driver or just pick her up in a taxi, you'll be drinking anyway.
then just spend the time with her, flirt, and fuck her twice in a row. when you spurt fast the time time say "was pretty excited after all that, let's go again in 10" and kiss her, fondle her, finger her.
it isn't complicated, just mirror most of what she does and follow your instinct for the rest.
>>
>>224029724
you sound like a woman from plebbit.

buy some very flexible shoes with thin soles, that's what I did. looked. lame as shit but I never wore them again after I passed the test. normal trainers/shoes are too thick to be able to feel anything and modern cars are made for women with zero strength and tiny feet, so they're ultra sensitive.
for steering, just treat it like moving a mouse for a headshot, nice and steady and don't overcompensate.
to brake gently, repeat out loud "feather the brakes", and tap on/off sort of as you lower the brake pedal, that gives a smoother stop.
you need to drive every day for hours for a few weeks to have a feel for it, not one lesson a week like fags do.
find a relative with time and a car, and go with them.
>>
>>224030021
escalate, and just play confident until you become confident naturally with time
you have more life experience, use that, and don't be apologetic, just state facts and keep it short.
nah don't drive, never needed to, might pick it up in a few months since I feel like going on a road trip and give her a wink
then she'll want to go on it with you and will be excited.
it's all in your own head.

i think the idea is that you generally have to transport yourself to the place where the offering woman is located, which tends to involve cars as the most reliable method. i think they do that in places where people live far apart from each other, or when time is off the essence before pp gets soft

My parents live in a nice neighborhood with lots of kids. Most come through quickly before it’s even dark in cheap costumes. Others drive around on those off road golf carts and buggies. Nobody even talks anymore. As if somehow they’ll be attacked, in an upper class private neighborhood. Pretty sad

I've always wanted to go to a Halloween party purely so I can dress up in stupid costumes again. I don't care about the drinking, the dancing, socialising or the sex. I just want to dress up. It's the one thing I miss from being a kid on Halloween. I often fantasise about dressing up as bigfoot or an alien or whatever and just running around at night, jumping out of bushes and scaring people. I'm too much of a pussy though
>>
>>224040034
Same. I miss putting effort and imagination into costumes. The few parties I’ve been to, most people just wear cat ears or a onesie and call it a day. If you wear anything that requires more than 5 seconds of thought, you’re looked at like a weirdo. I miss the effort people put in.
>>
>>224040034
>>224040080
find a public party and make an effort costume, then fully act out the part.
people will talk to you, tell you cool costume you can reply "I love dressing up, it's a ton of fun" and high five them.
do that every year, and you'll become a legend

you should throw a party for the children in your area. loads of bowls of candy, Halloween punch, spooky cobwebs, pumpkin carvings, and tours of your basement/tool-shed for some of them, where you can show them how you sharpen your butcher knives

It's more alive than ever here in Oregon.
Last weekend they had a 'trick or treat' thing at stores downtown for families. I saw more people downtown than I maybe ever have.
Last night things were crazy. People went all out with decorations, everyone was dressed up. Never seen so much happening for it before.
>>
>>224035643
Sounds like the only reason to attend a party is to be a nuisance and spite the people you describe for as long as possible until you get kicked out

idk was never an issue for me
I remember remember my dad being willing to drop me off at some girls place when I was like 24 and picking me up the next morning. Quite a few girls picked me up for dates as well.
At university it was really easy as well since most of them either lived on campus or nearby via public transport, or obviously drove on their own, so I would go to their place straight from the same way they do, and then get one of my parents or siblings to pick me up.

I did eventually get my license but it really never stopped me or got in the way when I didn't drive for most of my 20's
A lot of these things are just barriers in your head when they aren't really tangible problems if you actually just want to do the thing, I took the bus to dates before, it isn't really a big deal, especially if they involve drinking because you aren't going to be fuckin driving either way.
The people who must suffered for it were my mates because I would never be the designated driver, as I couldn't fuckin drive lol.
