This story doesn’t really work when Carrie is a cute, sweet, outgoing girl who gives no one any reason to dislike her.

But apparently Stephen King had a lot of input and wanted it this way.

Netflix wanted a dindu nuffin "They hate you because you're better then them" thing for the loser queers and foids who run it.

She should have been a genuine cute foid who was nice and picked on and finally snapped.
It would speak to the ACTUAL fanbase of netflix and other faggot and loser foid aimed streaming slop that's taken over western media.

If anything they should have gone full power fantasy with it and had her become a monster who hunts down the people who hurt her and then go after villains in the show and a few innocents to make everyone know she's evil and finally I guess die in agony or be taken by her imaginary friend who ends up being a demon who tempted her into evil.

It wasn’t Netflix. It was Amazon. Not a lot of difference but Flanagan just turned her into a capeshit character. She’s basically just Jean Gray off to find her M Men, I mean Shine Men
>>
>>224026594
she's almost every tv movie trope for everyone to dislike her except the other tropes who don't dislike her
>>
>>224026594
A girl in my HS was bullied non stop and was adorable. Girls and boys bullied her, it was a whole fucking thing where even teachers were doing it. I thought she was ok looking and didn't get why, but was too much of a faggot to ask her out. She's now a a semi famous instaslut with like over a million subs. It happens.

Pretty girls get bullied hard by other women for obvouse reasons

Retard

>>224026594
She's talking to imaginary people like a lunatic. Kids make fun of people like that.
>>
>>224026872
Guys did it too tho, they called her smelly and fat (she wasn't). One time at a rally several girls were fucking with her, she got into a fight and only she got in trouble for it. It was really fucked.

>Alright guys so Sadie Sink is going to be Jean Grey. Let’s find a Sadie lookalike and turn Carrie into our own capeshit series
>>
i don't know if you'd call it 'political correctness' but it's like a similar 'we don't go there any more' thing.

a classic fairytale has an ugly character? the new version they're 'cruel of heart' or something.

it's still implied in order to 'subvert' it, so i don't get WHY they don't just keep it direct. everyone has pointed out that Bella Ramsey looks weird, and she's even some church home-schooled weirdo IRL, why not cast her as Carrie?

Guys wanted a crumb of pussy so they sided with the envious hags

Happens to men too. I got shoved hard because some faggot was upset that his ex liked me. He had two guys with him so I couldn't do anything.

Damn sounds a lot like you trannies lmao

Between his past heavy drug use and being run over by a van, I'm pretty sure Stephen King is clinically retarded and his wife and son have been ghostwriting for him for years

it's so funny when americans think that Stephen King is a good writer
>>
>>224027705
I think it's only American weirdo right wing dingbats with delusional ideas about the world that use "Americans" like this. It just never reads as natural. It's the most performative shit. And right wingers love making up shit to cry about.

The majority of people here are esl browns like you.

Nobody thinks King is a good writer. He’s a good idea guy and should’ve just been a screenplay writer
>>
I honestly just think Steve hates Carrie. He wrote her like fifty years ago, and he compared her to the Columbine shooters. It’s natural he’d want to change shit. Although him making Carrie not responsible for the massacre was crazy

>"Some people seem animated by trying to protect Stephen King in this, and what I want to say to them is, 'Guys, this is Steve's idea,'" Flanagan says. "Steve believed very much that the story had already been told as he had written it. What excited him and animated him about this was the chance to expand that universe and to open it up into a much broader world."

he's a prolific writer, and there's some good stuff in there when you write that much. similarly i'm a prolific pooper, and there's some good chunks in there when you poop this much.

He doesn’t hate Carrie at all. It’s his baby. I find it funny his hypocritical ass is still fuming over Kubrick’s The Shining yet he he does far more changes to Carrie
>>
>>224028287
He doesn't hate it. The story was already adapted one way. Why do it again?

But hey, why use logic against contrarianism. You retards act like this was a flop.
>>
>>224026851
A lot of teachers are pathetic losers who try to live vicariously through the popular kids they never were when they went through. This manifests as supporting their bullying, tacitly or otherwise, or outright fucking them.
>>
>>224028354
He disliked Kubrick's Shining because he thought it changed the point: The destruction of the family. Which he did.

It's interesting that there is this stereotype that we are in an era where people are more used to dealing with nuance and not just "black and white morality", but the reality is that a portrayal of a realistic outcast, where the isolation and unorthodox upbringing lead her to have actual socially unnaceptable beliefs and behaviors would lead modern audiences to despise her and side with the bullies.

Wasn't it always like that? I mean, I recall Carrie had glasses and her hair was a little frizzy, but that's it.
>>
>>224028605
That's all. She wasn't ugly, she just didn't take care of herself. It's easy to tell who actually read the book. She wasn't fat, either. She was a little heavy for the time and they mocked her.

2002 miniseries which was suppose to lead into a series handled everything better. Prom scene. Carrie killing everyone and half the town and then her mom when she tried to drown her in the tub. She fakes her death and goes on the run with Sue and not some dyke bitch
>>
>>224028664
Yeah her getting dolled up for the prom was like the original Ugly Betty thing were everyone sees she’s actually petty
>>
>>224028664
yep, it's like that in amish girls too. they don't really wear makeup so they're not "pretty" like standard city girls. but they're not ugly. well, some of them are because of the inbreeding but that's something different.

I asked ChatGPT if Carrie was ugly in the book and this is what it said

>Yes. In Stephen King's original 1974 novel Carrie, Carrie White is explicitly portrayed as unattractive by conventional high-school standards.

>She's described as overweight, awkward, pale, with acne, and generally lacking the physical appearance and social polish that would make her popular. Her classmates regard her as ugly and undesirable, and King's descriptions emphasize how cruelly she's judged for her appearance.

>However, there's an important distinction: the book portrays Carrie as socially perceived as ugly, not as inherently monstrous or repulsive. Much of the emphasis is on how bullying, humiliation, and isolation shape her self-image.

Which as I said, is exactly how you know who read the book.

Take a girl who doesn't know how to dress, doesn't wear makeup, doesn't clean herself properly and doesn't know how to follow social conventions. Yeah, she's going to be called ugly and gross. That's what teens do. If you aren't a size zero, you're fat. If you are outside the norm, you're ugly.

You can see what Carrie is meant to look like on the original book cover. She's not ugly, anon.
