Is it worth watching?
Moby kills Ahab
>>224017671No. None of the adaptations are good.
>>224017671
>>224017671Yes, but John Huston's version is still the best
>>224017671>whales are fish Based
>>224017671>he wants to watch (another) movie about boats
>>224017671The book is more of an analysis of the whaling industry than Ahab's monomania. Unless this is told a sort of pseudo-documentary, I don't think it is a good adaptation.
>>224018273This director reads Moby Dick as if it’s a book about whaling?!
>>224018299No, I was thinking about most of the movie just focusing on Ishmael telling the audience about whaling and his impressions about it. It shouldn't spend too much time on the relationships of the crew's members, as this is secondary in the book.
>>224018430I seem to recall the book originally going to be a textbook about whales and whaling but nobody wanted it and Melville was like "What the fuck am I going to do with this god damn book on whales?" so he just filtered it with the story of Mocha Dick (the actual white whale that attacked ships) and passed it off as fiction because those guys were getting paid by word count, which is why Dumas wrote door stoppers.
