I've watched The Minecraft Movie and played Telltale's "Minecraft Story Mode" out of morbid curiosity and I find it interesting how distinct they are from one another.The Minecraft Movie really captures the "Single-Player Minecraft experience." You can tell Steve(Jack Black) has sunk years of his life in that world and it would be lonely and depressing if not for the fact that Jack Black's personality is so bombastic and whimsical to make up for it. His only companionship within the world up until other people showed up were his dog and Villagers, and they're essentially mindless NPC's.Meanwhile, Minecraft Story Mode feels more like a "Multiplayer Minecraft experience." It has a full cast of real player characters in the Minecraft universe. You could never be bored because there's always so much going on with actual people you could interact with.
