Why did it go so horribly, irredeemably wrong?
>>224010396It didn't. It's a solid movie. Every M:I except the second one was great.
>>224010450Second one is the best. The rest are horrid drivel.
>>224010396It's the only one I've seen. I saw it in theaters. It was fine. I didn't see the last one because it was even longer and reportedly even more self-indulgent. Definitely didn't need more of that. Also, the two year break. lol, lmao even. Sorry, missed your window.
>>224010473Based.
>>224010396I fell asleep in the theatre watching this crap. That spic villain has to be the lamest of the entire series
>>224010396top shelve stuff from start to finish tbqh
>>224010958All MIs are good action flicks. They’re worth watching. Lovable characters and great stunt work.
>>224013362He wasn't even the main villain. Some nebulous AI god was. The writing for both of those movies was fucking horrendous. The exposition was delivered worse than a shitty tv series, this garbage ironically could have been written by AI it's that bad.
>>224010473Mi2 blows ass. I swapped it out for Face/Off in my collection years ago. Mi2 was John Woo phoning it in in the worst way.
I thought part one was kino but part two was unbelievably bad
>>224010450>M:I 3>goodI'll rather have slowmo doves than JewJew winking at me during the entire movie about how he knows what a macguffin is
>>224010396The fact that it exists. Fallout was the perfect end to the series, Ethan gets a new waifu, one with the same profession as hisThen Dead Reckoning just kills her and gives her another one (Big Tiddy edition). Only notable part was the stunt jump, everything else feels rote.
>>224014001Panties too big
>>224014001Killing Ilsa was one of the dumbest things I've ever seen. She was the perfect romantic interest for Ethan. She was also WAY HOTTER than the chick they replaced her with.
Part 1 was like, exposition dump -> action scene -> repeat; but the exposition dump was so convoluted with plot "twists" every 30 secs that were all "tell, don't show" that they lost the audianceThey realized their mistake and in the next one they had the complete opposite flaw and it was like>okay we'll keep VERRRRRY simple>and we'll repeat every little THREE times to make sure the audiance is still following! It's super condescending, like they thought the reason why they lost in audiance in 1 was because they have low IQ when the real reason was that the writing was awful.
>>224010396Pandemic shoot messed with things and the script was also overhauled last minute. The bad guy was originally a younger character played by Nicholas Hoult and didn’t have a backstory connecting him to Ethan. We don’t even have the full story on what else changed but Melissa George played a character who was completely removed
>>224010473Second one feels like Woo doing a lazy pastiche of Woo, the villains give terrible performances, the music was dated on release and most of the plot was cut out because the film was far too long
>>224014889They handled that so badly. She was a very good and believably skilled character and there’s no way she’d lose to a jobber like that.
>>224010396Mission Impossible was never good. It was intended to be a one off action reboot of a 60's TV Cold War spy series that only boomers remembered but the first movie was such a success that it spawned a film franchise. As Tom Cruise became more popular it quickly became his personal vanity project so he could do dangerous stunts to prove how badass he is when in reality he's a pathetic adrenaline junkie and weirdo Scientologist. The films are all just generic action thrillers and Tom Cruise is just playing himself.
>>224016265> It was intended to be a one off action reboot of a 60's TV Cold War spy series that only boomers remembered There was a second TV series and both were airing in the late 80's, early 90's. In many countries.I didn't read the rest of your post btw since it was already obvious you're talking out of your ass
>>224016338The 80's show got terrible ratings and was canceled after two seasons. It's also considered to be a continuation of the 60's TV show instead of existing on its own timeline, but you probably didn't know that did you?You retard.
>>224014889>>224016208IRL it’s because Cruise and McQuarry were taking way too long to write/film the later sequels and she wanted to work on other projects.
>>224010396>>224010473memory holed.
No scenes in space. I wanted Tom Cruise in space and instead we got more of the same
bad writing. Hollywood often underestimates the importance of writing.
I binge watched the '60s series and everything about it is dated -- the fashions, the tech, the politics, et cetera . But the Spartan story structure meant that no matter how stupid the scripts were, you still wanted to watch to the end of each episode to see how they'd complete the mission.
>>224015975The character motivations are so convoluted and dumb it doesn't make any sense.
