After watching the movie, I believe she's just a neurodivergent girl who said some things in an awkward and confusing manner and got crucified for it.

>t. autism
The movie was a fucking rollercoaster, you just have to be able to read people’s body language and be able to even begin to approach unraveling the narrative in terms of how sincere anyone is being at any given time. The documentary is first and foremost about manipulation and deception.

I thought the film was creative. I was never bored, and it has left me actively thinking about different aspects of human nature and psychology since I watched it a week ago. The characters (other than Nathan) behave very strangely in their own ways, and it leaves you guessing about their intentions and motivations. 8/10
>>
>>224008368
Bet you thought her husband was straight too lol
>>
>>224008446
A lot of hype and people wanting to be part of the next big thing. Midwits were excited to tell their friends how they will never see documentaries the same way again, but next month they'll likely be glazing the newest "Making a Murderer" type shit.
>>224008545
Wow, so deep. It's about manipulation and deception, first and foremost, everyone. In case you weren't paying attention. This movie was a roller coaster ride for gullible retards.
>>
>>224008640
Also, Nathan is clearly strange, but that's his whole schtick. You wonder if he is the one acting, or if they are; if he is telling the truth or not, etc. It's a very subtle mind-bender. The least sensational narrative structure possible which nonetheless leaves quite an impression.

It's really not. It's a couple of narcissists pretending to be innocent and retarded. It just seems deep because you think they must real people with real beliefs and motives deep down, but they're not. They're husks that change who they are in any given moment to match whatever they think will benefit them. If you're searching for patterns in their behavior in an attempt to understand them you've simply never had to deal with a narcissist IRL.

I think it's well done. I just don't think it's a deep cerebral film. If you've delt with narcissists you come to understand that trying to "figure them out" is one of the many ways they steal your time and energy. If you find it super deep you just haven't come to this understanding imo

>>224012027
They spend most of the film agonizing over every small interaction trying to figure out if they're being deceived or not. That's like most of the film. Doesn't matter if Fielder is playing a part - if he's playing dumb, then so is the film. Why is this not tedious for me, the viewer?
>>
>>224008446
To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand You Can See Everything. The documentary is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of biotech startup culture, most of the nuances will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Elizabeth Holmes' nihilistic worldview, which is deftly woven into her characterisation – her personal philosophy draws heavily from Steve Jobs, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of her deception, to realise that it's not just fraud – it says something profound about the human condition. As a consequence, people who dislike Elizabeth Holmes truly ARE idiots – of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in her existential catchphrase "fake it till you make it", which itself is a cryptic reference to the collapse of Silicon Valley's moral framework. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Elizabeth Holmes' genius unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools... how I pity them.

And yes, by the way, I DO have a Theranos tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the investors' eyes only – and even they wouldn't understand its significance.

That the movie is tedious, and that the question of what is really true or knowable is... tedious? Even though what's true seems rather straight forward.

Has anybody read more of the writings where she deceives the investors? I haven't myself but my feeling is that if you read them, it will disprove the "le autism/spectrum" explanation he comes away with, and has some amount of doubt in her actions. Like I get the Who's on first? scene is meant to show how she is misconstruing words and the overall direction a sentence can lead people into wrong conclusions in one singular example, but it perhaps could have had Nathan test her more with different sentences or ideas than just that one example. It is baffling, her change in demeanor regarding her depiction on social media and that one picture, but methinks that the whole time the husband and her knew about Nathan and manipulated him but as it got harder over time to add layers of deception, they gave up and that's why there was that change. It was a new tactic to salvage what they could of their image.

At least Nathan at the end doesn't let Amanda pull the Tumblr/woman twitter-type shit with her trying to force her Hollywood dramabait idea of him unconciously being in love with Elizabeth. I don't really like A24 at all and that other director doesn't seem to my tastes. But the other message besides showing how corrupt people operate, is how biopics and bioseries can also do what Elizabeth did which is mislead people into thinking dramatized events are actual events and that there are corny motherfuckers in Hollywood who do unsubtle shit like her with the Steve Jobs poster or the machine exploding. That people have to look into how things are depicted and the motivations behind depictions. Kinda simple stuff, but jews making a movie about noticing is kinda funny.

obviously trusting and framing reality is a big part of this film. you cant trust what liz or billy say and you cant trust the filmmakers either.

thats sort of the deal with watching a documentary or film depicting the "truth". the people making it can decide how its edited and what to show you, just like liz can decide to lie or fake cry or "forget" things like she claims through out. "You can see everything" can be talking about Nathan and the filmmakers just as much as it can be about liz and her deceit.

the main place they do this in the film is the bit about her asking him to swim. or she says "jump in with me" or something to that effect to nathan. we have to wait until literally the last scene to see that nathan did jump in with her despite his reluctancy. the metaphor is obvious.

Like you say, Amanda calls into question nathan's reliability as the narrator right before that swimming scene.

Neither did that post. Again, it's mostly synopsis. And none of that crap even worked on me, because I never trusted Holmes, and I never trusted the filmmakers. It's obvious from very early on. I don't need a lecture about the nature of truth in films after suffering three hours of the filmmakers desperately trying to obscure the truth. The swimming scene felt contrived, and was as unconvincing as a lot of the second half of the film, nor does it give any real artistic dimension to the film. It's empty. A magic trick that didn't work on me.

Though I haven't watched the movie and don't know much about her or theranos, this is what I've been saying too. She's a weirdo who got up in corporate culture (which openly encouraged her behavior). She's still a really weird person

Her pathology is a personality thing (and maybe some kind of autism), not sociopathy or whatever
