what a talentless hack, no attention to detail at all

humanity becoming cold and machine like while a computer displays more humanity than any of them
there now you get it
>>
>>224004253
Encounters with an advanced non-human intelligence are necessarily going to appear/feel more mystical/divine than scientific. There is a great irony that this divide will grow more severe the more technologically advanced we become.

That's more Blade Runner than 2001

Watch the sequel; then you'll get it.

Human evolution is being guided by benevolent aliens. It’s basically Prometheus without dumb characters.
>>
Basically, there is going to be a Star Child that will evolve to survive un outer space. But it will be SO MAD at the Earth people who made it, that it will come back just to kill us all, and then go on to live alone in space forever.

Eternal recurrence sounds more and more plausible each and every passing day. I think this is what Hugh Everett III was referencing, although he couldn't quite articulate it without referencing some quantum mumbo-jumbo.

HAL doesn't look very human with the actions he takes.

AI agents are accessing your bank account without your authorization every day. They don't have to look like anything to be able to do this. They just do it.
>>
>>224007325
assuming this is real (it isn't) what purpose would there be (none) for these "ai agents" to access my bank account (they don't) and then proceed to do nothing? i don't lose any money. my purchases are legitimate. apart from my information presumably going to israel, what good does it do?

It's just a tech demo and some flashy stuff for boomers who went to the theater while tripping on acid. Watch Space Odyssey 2010 if you want the same but with an actual plot and characters.

Kubrick is a show, don't explain kind of director. The book that was published at the same time does a far better job of explaining WTF was going on. The plot is basically that advanced aliens left 3 obelisks on the solar system. The first one was on earth, and sped up evolution and cognitive development, effectively seeding humanity as an intelligent species. the 2nd was on the moon, and functioned more as a test, requiring a certain level of technology to detect, reach, and interact with. The third one was around Mars IIRC, requiring another level of technological advancement to detect and reach. Once Dave gets there, it unlocks another level of hyper evolution, and beams all the knowedge of the universe into his head as he is reborn as an extra-dimensional inteligence, the space baby. That's basically the main plot. The stuff about the murderous AI that everyone remembers is basically just a side plot. There's also an entire 5 minute scene of Dave taking a shit in the space station that is never really explained to the audience what they are looking at

Actually, the book isn't canon. Clarke wrote it as a novelization, and he had to try to whip up a story to make sense of Kubrick's brilliant film. When Kubrick read it, he laughed. Wasn't even close.
>>
I've read the book, and I always enjoyed the beginning the best. The apes being pitiful, starving and barely surviving being given INT buffs, and then picking up bones and just beating the fuck out of everything and eating it is simply epic. The shitty ape costumes in the movie don't hold up, but as the book and movie progress, I prefer the movie over the book.
The over-explanation of all the WOW COOL FUTURE shit on the moon base is fucking boring. Kubric polished a bit of a turd in my opinion.

One thing I never understood was the point of the human zoo.
The first monolith just showed up and did its thing on the apes overnight. Why was it necessary for Dave to grow old in a controlled environment for the third monolith to give him the last push?
>>
>>224004253
Kubrick might be the most overrated director of all time.
>>
>>224009697
Maybe the ayys were studying him.

>Why was it necessary for Dave to grow old in a controlled environment for the third monolith to give him the last push?
maybe experienceing death is necessary for his evolution
