This is just a poor attempt to make ADHD people feel better about themselves. ADHD is real, people with ADHD have extreme low impulse control and need for brain stimulation, thats why when they get angry they start punching or when they are bored they start doing drugs

The real problem is the modern lack of focus on non psychiatric treatments to mental disorders. Pharmaceutical companies want their drugs to be pushed nonstop so we see DSM criterias becoming looser and looser allowing more and more people to be diagnosed and sold drugs.

It's a myth, which suddenly became popular once strong, addictive stimulants like amphetamine or methylphenidate started being prescribed for this "disorder". Before, it was easily cured by teachers having more autonomy and staying after school to repeat the work until they got it. The discipline caused themselves to develop discipline and their ability to concentrate was greatly improved to the point of being indistinguishable from other students.
I don't know a single kid who was diagnosed with ADHD, but I was born in 1990, schools back then still were able/allowed to fix such behaviors and it worked. Nobody needed any kind of pills, let alone addictive, brain modifying, drugs.

i know several, all of them in uni studying for stem degrees and they werent using it as an excuse to get legal speed

Humans are character classes. This means people have stronger or weaker traits on a sort of spectrum scale. ADHD and autism have obvious strengths and weaknesses.

In the pre-modern world, the human had to do it all. Generalism was hugely important, breadth-wise learning. A tribal man had to hunt, fish, forage, scout, build, fight, etc. He was constantly working on new skills as need demanded. This is "adhd", basically. When you are getting bored of one repetitive task, or non engaging abstract task (which is all of schooling and corporate work now), it's your brain saying you need to find something more useful to work on. It's for survival, not arbitrary.

In the modern world everything is done at hyperscale and we don't need generalists like this, we need hyperspecialists. You get a very specific job, oftentimes abstract rather than tangible, and you just do that, every single day. It's entirely at odds with how a large segment of humans are built to work.

The people aren't broken, we just have a mode of society that is overfit for a certain kind of person. The myopic specialist.

The government's current agenda seems to be to "prove people aren't really disabled", because they desperately need to cut spending, and it's easier to pick on spackers, than it is to have the immigrants at your neck.

This is true now for autism to a lesser extent. "Autism" in its mild/moderate forms is more of an obsession with things, objects, and how they work. It's the inventor/tinkerer archetype. Prior to mass production of everything, and mass proliferation of information, people had to figure a lot of things out on the fly and from first principles. Your autists were good for this.
