>Has it ever occurred to you that part of being a parent is tryin' to kill your kids? Can someone attempt to explain this or what was up with this line? Feels like something much deeper (yeah, I'm an adult manchild with mommy & daddy issues, how the fuck could you tell?).I never read the book, but the idea to start trying to do that just hit me if it has more shit like this. Does it elaborate on the parent/kid relationship?I feel like that was a genuine issue that the movie could have been about even if they took out the magical car. I've seen parents like that before.
>>223997449Was this before or after his blowup with his parents where he attacks his dad? Arnold is descending into madness and you're supposed to wonder if he plans to kill his parents like he has his bullies. I don't think it's a throwaway line but I don't really think it has any deeper meaning.
>>223997555I just checked and he said that before he fought his dad. He said that after he visited his friend when he got messed up at the football game and was in the hospital as he was walking out.It was a while later in the movie when he left the car alone in the garage and the other guys destroyed it and then after that's when he blamed his parents at the dinner table and told them to fuck off and his dad got pissed.
