Why didnt the wizards and death eaters just spam Eat slugs at each other? Seems like the most effective way to Incapacitate someone

The magic of children is said to be more sporadic and wild. I figure 'eat slugs' isn't a real spell and only worked because a child cast it.

Why bother keeping your mind focused on one spell to kill people when you could just cast a fuck-off fireball at someone? Granted avada kedavra is unblockable. But my headcanon is Voldemort didnt throw one out at Dumbledore during their battle in the ministry because he was too afraid of big gay D to focus on it properly.
