Superman only works as a love story.Forget fighting demons, intergalactic Aliens, whatever, Superman literally only works as a God like creature who has to come to terms with being the protector of Humans, and that's it. Being a human, living a life. Watching over the Humanity https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TIujTvZrnqM
>>223992092>Superman Returns>Deadbeat dad Superman >Directed by a pedophileSomebody save me
>>223992092I accept your premise, but definitely not in the way Returns did it
>>223992092My favorite aspect of Superman's character is his humility. He knows he's not human but he thinks of himself as human and acts human, even pretending in his daily life that he doesn't have special powers. For most purposes he's just an ordinary guy doing the best he can to help people with what tools are available to him.
>>223992092This flopped though
>>223992434And deservedly so. But that wasn't the point.
>>223992092No, I have the ideal superman plot. It's the Homelander conceit of of course he can physically lift an airplane or unload passengers at the speed of light, but the first would destroy the weak airplane and the latter would smush the humans so he practically doesn't have enough time to save them. Miracle on the Hudson situation but no Hudson. So he has to help build a sleigh system where cables on hard points where the engines are can pull the plane softly as if it had thrust, and superman uses his lasers to morse code communicate with the pilots. We establish that human limitations are Superman's limitations, since he wants to save humans. His own strength doesn't make up for human weakness.Meanwhile Clark Kent is investigating a corrupt local crime boss with ties to Gotham. He gets to know the guy who thinks Kent is harmless and messes with him, almost admiring his midwestern values, but looking down on him overall. Superman of course can hear and see everything but can't find a way to get evidence legally into custody or get anyone to speak up.The crime boss, incidentally, fucking loves superman, completely ignoring the irony of his own criminal activities against how kick ass and good superman is. At some point superman saves the crime bosses daughter from an X disaster caused by the boss's chickens coming home to roost, and Superman admonishes him which actually takes the guy down a peg, then the boss gets stuck on something like tax evasion and the walls crumble. Kent brings his dossier with proof and hands it to the boss saying taking him out won't dismantle the harm being cause, only the boss choosing to do the right thing can do that. Ending is Kent handing in a shitty article on it all, then the tv news comes on highlighting the boss walking himself into the courthouse to turn himself it. Everyone forgets about kent's shitty article, and he walks away smiling.
