This movie actually sucked so fucking badly, how did this win best screenplay? This shit legitimately got affirmative actioned into an Oscar win and critical acclaim. It felt so amateur
>>
>>223991950
>Whitey hates us cuz...they ain't us?!?!
>>
>>223991950
Boomers wanting to be niggers? Nah dude.
Now if it was Gen X, Millenial, zoomer I could see this scenario. Casting is important.
>>
>>223991950
>ungrateful and spoiled n****r director that hates white people
>movie awards crew that also hate white people, many of them self-hating whites
there you have it

Rachel Dolezal is a perfect example. She’s 48. Gen X, she had some fucked up childhood where her liberal biological parents adopted a niglet and praised it over her, so she wiggered.

She has an onlyfans and actually has a rocking body. Whowuddathunk

>This shit legitimately got affirmative actioned into an Oscar win and critical acclaim.
You’ve only just realised that?
>>
>>223992262
I only watched it for the first time today. I watched nope and, racism aside, it was alright. Like it had some cool parts. I wasn't expecting this one to feel like an extended key and peele sketch.
>>
>>223991950
Whites hate this movie because it exposes them
>>
>>223991950
The best scene was the coffee cup hypnosis. I spent years as a salesman, and it really is possible to hypnotize people and direct their attention. NLP type shit.
I’ve never studied it but you can intuit it if you’re not a retard.
>>
>>223992316
>it exposes them
In what way? Leftie whites/jews fetishising blacks?
>>
>>223992307
>I wasn't expecting this one to feel like an extended key and peele sketch
Didn't feel anything like one to me, I think you just didn't get it and are trying to explain it to yourself the best you can, so you look for obvious clues (Peele involved=it means it's like K&P).
This is like saying Starman is kind of like The Thing because Carpenter made both of them and there are aliens involved.
>>
>>223992327
The whole dialogue scene sucked like the rest of the movie, but I did like when he shot into the sunken place, especially since I'd gotten insanely high on DXM the night before and was basically in the same place as he was. If the whole movie had been that surreal visually, it would've been much harder to hate the film
>>
>>223991950
yeah i felt the same
>>
>>223992347
>it would've been much harder to hate the film
This is your problem, you start from the position that you're meant to hate the film to fit in better with your brown racists on 4chan kek.
>>
>>223991950
I liked it. I wouldn't say it's a 10 though, more like a 7 or 8. The race stuff was a little cringe at points but not a big deal. It wasn't like those hollywood movies that are full of ham-fisted political culture war messages that have little or nothing to do with the main plot.
>>
>>223992340
It felt like an extended sketch because the dialogue and acting sucked ass, and the camera work was offensively basic.
>>
>>223991950
>how did this win best screenplay?
Pity awards for their DEI.
>>
>>223992354
>>223992357
Have you guys not watched good movies before? Like movies with good acting and visuals? I had to show my friends Good Time immediately after we watched Get Out since it uses the vivid colors better, and it's night and day how much better of a film it is. There are levels to this shit
>>
>>223992360
>the dialogue and acting sucked ass,
nigga what, the dialogue was a knee-slapper and acting was pristine, the way the girlfriend transforms from regular old GF to cold-blooded machine, the negro with a hat. Acting was ace, and dialogue was hilarious.

https://youtu.be/s8p-OVSZj_A
>this... thaaang
if this didn't make you laugh you simply didn't get it.

>and the camera work was offensively basic.
What does "offensively basic"? How are you offended by something being basic?
Nevermind that this isn't true either, considering that the camerawork is just fine (see: kidnapping scene, dialogue closeups), I just can't even accept it as legitimate criticism.
>this is so basic that I am offended
are you form tumblr or something?
>>
>>223992392
>Have you guys not watched good movies before? Like movies with good acting and visuals?
I watched a ton. I don't value movies based on how they compare to other movies, I value them on their own merits.

>had to show my friends Good Time immediately after we watched Get Out since it uses the vivid colors better
You sound fucking obnoxious and like you're trying to prove something.
>>
>>223992397
>the way the girlfriend transforms from regular old GF to cold-blooded machine
Oh yeah and just to add, this is extra remarkable because that actress was fucking A W F U L in M3gan.
>>
>>223992402
Lmao I compare movies to each other because I see patterns between them. We enjoyed laughing at Get Out, my one friend who likes it still likes it and understands my (and my other friend's who didn't like it) perspective, and then we all watched Good Time and loved it
>>
>>223992397
You actually have zero taste in movies if you think that get out had good acting and writing, plain and simple.
>>
>>223992440
You already told me you watched Good Time with friends once, now you did it a second time.
Like I said, it feels like you're trying to prove something.

>>223992447
Yes I do think that, so I must have zero taste. You got me, I indeed think what I wrote I think.
>>
>>223992456
>so I must have zero taste
NTA but yes. You’re also brown.
>>
>>223992456
That was the first time my friends had seen the movie. It was my second time watching it. If you can't see that get out sucked, you don't know what good film is. I hate to break it to you
>>
>>223992467
Didn't ask.

>>223992475
>If you can't see that get out sucked
It didn't suck, it was funny and novel.

>you don't know what good film is
A good film is a film I like. I incidentally did like Good Time, so there, we have a point of agreement that it's a good film.
So how do I not know what a good film is when I immediately identified one?
>>
>>223991950
Because it features niggers prominently and it's about racism, shrimple as.
>>
>>223992490
Do you not notice how those movies use colors similarly, but good time utilizes them to create a feeling as opposed to just throwing blue and orange lights over everything wherever they can? Or how the Safdies had intention with how they moved the camera around in every scene, and how basically everything about get out was like a college sophomore's film while doubling Good Time's budget? That the characters were flat? That the writing and acting felt like it was out of a TV movie? The side character who saves the day just making the same joke over and over again, and then in the last scene when things are at their highest, he just makes the same fucking joke again while his friend is covered in blood? There was nothing other than a kinda cool concept with the hypnosis
>>
>>223992541
>Do you not notice how those movies use colors similarly
Nope, I couldn't really draw any parallels.

>Or how the Safdies had intention with how they moved the camera around in every scene
So did Peele.

>how basically everything about get out was like a college sophomore's film
Show me a sophomore film that's like Get Out, I'd love to watch it.

>That the characters were flat?
Sure, but it's not a brooding character study, it's a social horror comedy. This is like complaining that there aren't enough dance scenes. Just because you personally think something is missing from a movie, it doesn't detract from the movie's quality.

>That the writing and acting felt like it was out of a TV movie?
The acting was great. There was nothing wrong with the writing although it wasn't exceptional.

>The side character who saves the day just making the same joke over and over again
I didn't like that too much, but that's like 5 minutes of the movie. I didn't mind it as much as you did either, it didn't sour any good part of the film for me.

>There was nothing other than a kinda cool concept with the hypnosis
I got great laughs out of it, I enjoyed the uncomfortable social horror scenes, and I thought the hypnosis thing was cool. That's more than a cool concept to me.

It's your prerogative to not like the movie, but it's clear to me that you didn't get it. You judge it as if it's The Color of Pomegranates. It's like complaining that a classical composition doesn't have enough bass.
>>
>>223992577
I'm judging it on terms of it being a film that I'm expected to sit down and pay full attention to instead of hooting and hollering every time I see something that validates my blackness. Peele absolutely does NOT use the camera well in Get Out. I'm done trying to explain this to you
>>
>>223992599
>that I'm expected
Who's expecting that of you? Again, you have some kind of personality problem where you constantly have to prove things. Watch whatever you want.

> hooting and hollering every time I see something that validates my blackness
Like I said, you fundamentally didn't get it. This movie is a funny derogation of white liberal worship of blacks, the "anti-racist but blacks are better and sports and dancing okay" type.

>Peele absolutely does NOT use the camera well in Get Out
The camerawork is fantastic, and even if it's not fantastic to you, you can't actually point to a problem with it.
There are no stray coffee cups in shots. There are no camera mishaps or unclear shots. It's all good and serviceable.
You just put in the camera part there thinking I'm some mouth-breathing retard who's too stupid to argue an obvious lie and who will concede out of insecurity. I can teach a fucking class on camerawork.

>I'm done trying to explain this to you
I've been very gentle with you and still you scurry away butthurt.
>>
>>223992637
If you make a movie, release it in theaters, and you don't expect people to want to watch the whole thing and get something out of it, then your movie is going to be shit. Filmmakers should have something to prove to ME, not the other way around, and that's a good thing.
>>
>>223992637
Also I don't care about what your idea of "good camera work" is because I can't take anything you say seriously about the craft of film
>>
>>223992659
Get Out was a successful movie by all metrics so clearly a lot of people got it, even though you yourself didn't.

>>223992668
If you don't value my opinions, don't reply 6 times kek.
>>
>>223991950
It didn't at all.
>>
>>223992687
Acting like I "didn't get" the movie when I understood it's message of "even white people who say they aren't racist can't be trusted" immediately upon them walking into the house. As if you didn't just say that tons of people understood the message. Most people don't care about film, so they aren't going to sit there and critically analyze a movie while they watch it. Somehow I missed the message doing that, when it's the most hamfisted shit? Peele was throwing overhands at the viewer in every single scene
>>
>>223991950
>This movie actually sucked so fucking badly, how did this win best screenplay?
Affirmative action in action.
>>
>>223992327
>The best scene was the coffee cup hypnosis. I spent years as a salesman, and it really is possible to hypnotize people and direct their attention. NLP type shit.
Only if you're dealing with other retards, retard. Anyone who is able to be hypnotized has to be stupid enough to believe in it first, like you.
>>
>>223992708
>Acting like I "didn't get" the movie
You clearly didn't. Like I told, the movie is a critique of white liberals. You yourself said it has something to do with affirmation of blackness or something.

>Most people don't care about film, so they aren't going to sit there and critically analyze a movie while they watch it.
You have a very high opinion of yourself and a very low opinion of everyone else.

>Peele was throwing overhands at the viewer in every single scene
Weird that you feel so threatened by a movie that's not even about you in any way. You're not a white liberal so I don't know where this butthurt is coming from.
>>
>>223992753
You're actually retarded dude. Peele was "throwing overhands" with the messaging, not that he was literally attacking the viewer or that I'm saying that the messaging was violent, even though it condones violence

if i was a nigger...i could drive a cadillac with class
my pocket stuffed with welfare checks, and i could sit on my big black ass
now you take a nigger, he aint nobody's fool, he doesn't buy any gasoline to drive his kids to school
damn i wish i was a nigger
our government has gone crazy, id change things if i could
if i was only a nigger, i could afford to live in a white neighborhood
oh the things that i could do, if i was black and hell bent
i could send my kids to college, and it wouldn't cost me one damn cent
damn i wish i was a nigger
the wife and i were down on our luck, we were really getting uptight
they said at the welfare office, you aint black you're white

Yes affirmative action played a part in the Oscar win. Problem is that a lot of reactionary people see that win and decide to write the film off completely and say it was bad. It’s not great, it’s also not terrible, it’s just okay. Anyone who says otherwise is simply letting politics influence their judgement one way or another.

>>223993294
Its not even okay though. What about it is okay other than the concept of the hypnosis thriller? Is the acting okay? The cinematography? The character writing? The scares? All of that was so crap
>>
>>223993311
I thought it was reasonably well-made, well-paced, and the script isn’t terrible even if the progressive racial politics are preachy and on-the-nose.
>white liberal guy says would’ve voted for Obama 3 times, omg how tokenistic!!

I’m more curious to know why you have such a strong opinion on it. I can think of plenty of films that are much worse on a technical level. What specifically about the writing, acting, cinematography, etc. made it so awful for you?
