I was talking to some people who say James Bond was a toxic role model for men.
>>
>>223991269
How was he made of a poisonous chemical?
>>
Just stop talking to faggots, OP.
>>
>>223991269
Me, personally? I think Bond is a sexist, misogynist dinosaur. A relic of the Cold War.
>>
>>223991269
Why do you talk to people who think that movie protagonists have to be literally Jesus for them to be acceptable?
>>
>>223991764
ince when has Bond ever been portrayed as an anti-hero in the movies at all? In the novels, you could argue that Ian Fleming does really make you want to think twice about who Bond is as a person, to the point that even he himself in the prose is extremely critical of the character and wants you to question his motivations. But the movies treat him like a superhero. What the fuck are you talking about?
>>
>>223991823
When did I say he was an anti-hero?
Is that your definition of anyone who isn't literally Jesus? If so, you're part of the problem you retarded leftist.
>>
>>223991852
Bond IS portrayed as literally Jesus, though. He performs spectacular miracles, defeats evil and does no wrong in the eyes of the audience. Unless you consider drinking and fucking to be moral failings, I still don't get your point. What, if anything about Bond, is supposed to be questioned in the movies? The last time 007 was given any debt was in OHMSS

People don't understand that power fantasies are not actual role models. Power fantasies are people who you WISH you could be, but it's impossible for you to become whether those people are rich and powerful or involved in exciting activities, or can sleep with anyone they desire. Nobody wants to actually act like James Bond because it's a fantasy they could never pull off.

Stop associating with feminists

>Nobody wants to actually act like James Bond because it's a fantasy they could never pull off
I don't think you've ever met a real human being in your life
>>
>>223991875
What the fuck are you on about, he's an alcoholic gambler who fucks every piece of meat that appears in within five feet of him.

Not to mention he's literally a state sponsored killer, who also has betrayed people to their deaths.

What exactly is your definition of Jesus? Because clearly this is where there's a fundamental disagreement.
>>
it tickles my primal brain in a good way, the ones prior to Spectre that is

Okay, maybe you're actually really dense and stupid, and you don't know how cinema works. So let me just explain one of the basic fundamentals of storytelling, which is framing. Is any of this framed as a bad thing in any of the movies? Do any of the movies ever frame James Bond as fucking women, or drinking, or being a state-sponsored killer as a bad thing? Like, maybe very rarely and occasionally? There's a little bit of it in GoldenEye. Somebody already posted the quote where M chews him out for being a misogynist dinosaur who fucks the first woman that comes up to him. Obviously, with the Daniel Craig films, there's a little bit more of a hint that there is something mentally wrong with this guy and how much he enjoys the act of killing. But beyond those very few instances, when do any of these movies frame it in any way that what he is doing is wrong? Seriously, give me examples. I would love to know them. When is he NOT rewarded for his behavior? Because that's a huge part of how you as an audience absorb the world of a film and the character's actions. Sometimes you can do it in a subversive way like Nightcrawler, but that film's framing in terms of tone, music and photography make it pretty clear that Lou is a bad person.

>if the director doesn't pause the screenplay and break the fourth wall and tell you that the protagonist isn't Jesus, you're to assume he is Christ returned and to emulate him in every way throughout your life.

You're so fucking stupid. Movies are entertainment, Bond is an entertaining character, who is (or at least used to be) allowed to act like a womanizing booze hound.
He has never been shown as a paragon of virtue.
Stop being a retarded faggot.
>>
>>223992015
Are you actually this fucking stupid? Do you think that it is breaking the fourth wall when a movie contains subtext? Do you think it's breaking the fourth wall when the score ramps up when Norman Bates commits the shower kill in Psycho? Do you think it's breaking the fourth wall when Clint Eastwood in Unforgiven says, "It's a hell of a thing, killing a man. You take away everything he's got... and everything he's ever gonna have."

I feel bad for you. I feel sad that there are people who watch movies like you without even a fraction of critical thinking ability,

that cocksuckin' piece of shit Barbara Broccoli's boyfriend - I can't even say his name - murdered James Bond. And what did I do about it?

James Bond is a very morally questionable character in almost all his incarnations. A glowie, a womanizer, a force of western hegemony, a drunk. He's cool, obviously, I like him as a character but I don't find him admirable.

I vastly prefer Number 6. Quit his agency for what are implied to be grave moral concerns. Stands up to the totalitarian forces holding him captive. Good catholic who doesn't sleep around. Just as witty and charming as Bond and a true British gentleman.
>>
>>223991269
Toxic in the sense that he could give people a positive perception of western intelligent agencies.
>>
>>223991269
he objectively was a problem tho and became better he obviously would be considered a rapist today and sean connery himself was a trash human being
>>
>>223991269
If they were women, stay away. If they were men, then they need help
>>
>>223991731
Men that are Sexist and misogynist by today's womens standards are the still the greatest kind of men, and the ones that get laid the most often
>>
>>223992174
>And what did I do about it?
You weet ik
>>
>>223992304
I hope your baiting

if you generally believe that you are going to have a lot of trouble getting laid and/or making proper friendships with men
>>
>>223992332
ok but regardless of their gender the point still stands, not op, but bond was a genuine misogynist just like connery himself
>>
>>223992349
i do genuinely believe it because its true? and i have some guy friends so hardly the point
>>
>>223991731
Still my favorite movie of them all.
>>
>>223992371
bond movies are legit not even good guys complain about romcoms being the same and then watch bond movies i dont get it
>>
>>223991269
And?
Too low effort even for rage bait.
