Maybe Im low IQ, but I dont actually quit understand how what I just saw was humanly possible to create. Particularly the climactic battle with the fire and the birds. Laika is always impressive, but Laika on a epic fantasy scale is absolutely jaw dropping.
>>223986982it's AI bro. you really think these guys autistically moved every figure?
>>223986982This is an EXTREMELY expensive movie, anon.
>>223986982Damn, sounds cool. Too bad those characters are so distractingly ugly that I'll probably never watch this movie.
>>223987013Anon, this movie began filming in 2011, im afraid you're retarded
>>223986982>took 16 - 17 years to make >budget 700 million https://www.worldofreel.com/blog/2026/10/23/wildwood-is-the-most-expensive-animated-movie-ever-made
>>223986982Watching this reminded me of how much Portland deserves a good nuking
post webms or fuck off. I'm not watching this gay shit.
>>223987167No, support the arts or kys, societal leech
>god tier silky smooth beautiful animation for 90% of the movie>have a few scenes toward the end of the movie where the frame rate drops by half I cannot comprehend spending so much time, effort, and money on this movie then rushing it so it can get to theaters 1% of its total production time earlier.
>>223987120Your nukes don’t even work anymore. Your soldiers are patrolling rusted dumps and your scientists have lost all knowledge.
Why do all this painstaking effort for art’s sake just to have the movie be generic and boring. Their whole selling point of the movie was “we worked hard on it” who cares
>>223986982Is it just impressive animation or is it an actually good movie, because I know you retards will easily get swept up by pretty pictures.
>>223987320It’s a trilogy of books crammed into a 2 hour movie, villain is hot and great, main characters are whatever and are clearly supposed to be there as set pieces to explain the world to the audience, side characters are decent, I felt bad when some of them died , world building is good, it’s a 8/10 bare minimum, at least imho. My expectations were way too high, I thought this movie would change my life or some shit (I was rewatching trailers for like 6 months) but it was still great overall
>>223987320The story gave me big The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe vibes. But I was surprised by how gorey and dark it was. People and animals die a lot and in pretty grizzly ways.
>>223987206why would i support something that looks so lame? Imagine pouring your talent into a big bowl of diarrhea for a decade.
>>223987381Your face looks lame
>>223987277Meanwhile in Iraq our soldiers were patrolling for dusty rumps>Asalaam alaikum, ladies
>>223987320It's kind of boring really. Similar to Kubo the story is just completely unmemorable. Coraline still clears as their best
>>223987381imagine that said talent peaked decades ago and I saw worse shit than diarrhea let that sink in.
>>223987404not likely
>>223986982It was kino, and /tv/ is retarded as usual
>>223986982Just watched the trailer, looks ai generated to be honest. Also lmao at the awful pop song epic nostalgia mix
>>223987521I hate retards like you so much
>>223987379>grizzly waysI am once again begging burgers to learn their own fucking language.
>>223987369On a scale of Kubo to Coraline where does this stand?
>>223987562That is reassuring
>>223987320The pretty pictures are doing a lot of heavy lifting, but I'm not ashamed to say that those pictures are VERY pretty and they successfully lift whatever weight is asked of them.
>>223987576Right in the middle. Better than Kubo, overall not as interesting as Coraline. Animation mogs both though
>>223987576I prefer Coraline because I like spooky, but its probably objectively their best movie to date.
>>223987709>>223987744Correct
>>223987277>Your nukes don’t even work anymore. Your soldiers are patrolling rusted dumps and your scientists have lost all knowledge.
>>223986982I'm glad I saw it, would've been better than Street Fighter or Clayface. Even with the afro lesbian and other little woke shit sprinkled in.The scene where she escapes from the mansion is my favourite part, very fun action with some funny parts.
>>223987063I look forward to the youtubers making shit up to explain 'the lore' behind why so many characters have eye bags
>>223986982>full of gay shitNah
>>223988387No faggots though. In fairness it's wholesome compared to real life Portland.
>>223987116>budget 700 millionI can believe it but they're never going to make that money back. I don't even see how.>>223987320Coraline > Kubo > Wildwood of the Laika movies I've seen. It's an enjoyable movie with a pretty neat world and concept, the jokes usually landed, and you can see the money that was spent on the painstaking animation, art, and world they established. It also did some things I wasn't expecting like an actual war with casualties for example. At the same time I think Coraline was by far their best movie and Kubo most of the time flowed better as a story even if it felt somewhat underwhelming compared to Wildwood?I'd say the bit where she returns home was the low point, same with the kid escaping his cage and then apparently running for over an entire day straight to get back to their home. It also felt like we got a fair amount of flashback storytelling just to catch us up or reveal stuff at times and sometimes the worldbuilding was lackluster until they just blurt out some history for us. Wasn't expecting them to actually let either kid kill someone though.
>>223988774So fucking cool (the gif)
>>223988774You put Kubo about Wildwood?Kubo sucked dude.
>>223990036The story still felt like it flowed better than this and was less rushed. It was also visually good too even if the beetle guy was kinda weird at times.
Another woke studio about to close down. The West is healing.
>>223990062Kys
>>223990036Granted I haven't seen Kubo since it came out, but I remember being more blown away by its visuals than Wildwood. The story and characters on the other hand, were the blandest pieces of bland since bland came to blandtown. Wildwood > Coraline > Kubo for me.
>>223988774>I can believe it but they're never going to make that money back. I don't even see how.it won't and it doesn't matter. the guy who owns nike bought the studio for his son to have fun as an animator. it's a billionaire's kid's hobby, not a profit-oriented studio.
>>223988348Kek. I bet this is self insertion by laikucks from working endless hours at their animation mill
>steal his look!
>>223993037>not a profit-oriented studio.A billionaire may be fine spending a few million dollars here and there on pet projects that bring him joy. But if the movie actually cost $700 million (doubt), then this will be the last one. Especially considering Nike stock has lost 75% of its value over the past 5 years.
