Different definitions of what "film" means
>>
There's nothing to fear. AI is just another form of computer generated images. CGI made easy for the masses. Visual effects. Automated animation. There will be more special effects movies by small budget moviemakers. So what? Good for them. It's not such a big deal. Watch them or don't.
>>
>>223968202
>>223968236
Which is why "movie" is a much better term than "film" if we're including digital.

Anti AIfags had a nuclear melty about muh wholesome granddaddy Lynch being in favor of AI. But I thought his AI upscale of Inland Empire made the movie even better. He weaponized the hallucinatory artifacts and invention of information to render the low res source footage more unsettling. the feeling that something bad is going to happen imminently is enhanced.
but people think its evil because will smith was made to eat spaghetti or somethig...
>>
>>223968291
There will always come something new that will shake the industry. Nothing can remain as it is for too long. The industry will change, maybe in some ways for the worse, maybe in some ways for the better. It'll be interesting to see if nothing else. The mainstream side of the industry is already a burning trash heap anyway. Maybe some independent moviemakers will use it for something interesting eventually.

movies will come with a strap on in the cinema seat that fucks the audience in the ass by then. hopefully

Yes, they are. If you lack media literacy to understand how so, too bad. Show a film of today to audiences of the 60s and they would get it just fine.

>>
>>223969267
The art of cinema is made up from different types of shots, types of cuts, camera moves, and their various combinations in continuous time. I'm oversimplifying but I hope you get where I'm coming from. Whether you're making a film with a story or not, doesn't matter. Raw technique always exists, even if your film is just one static shot. Read film theory. Bordwell is a decent entry point.
>>
>>223969361
There are many ways to goon, I've done a fair share of them. You sure you wanna know? Some I have done, some I was told.

Classic one on one, discord, your DM of choice.
Group DM, straightforward. telegram, servers for gooning, etc.
Public, be it 4chan threads or twitter replies, comment chains.
There's indeed sites where some can host a video or many and they have their chat room and that way a group goon sesh.
There's a VR element also, some and I haven't done that, VRCHAT or setting up a virtual sesh space and screens and many overlapping.
>>
>>223969392
it's only gay if you show each other your cocks
Gio did you show Birkinfag your willy? Thats the core of this.
>>
Invent a new type of cut and Eisenstein will kiss you in hell.

Rosenbaum blaming Star Wars for the Gulf War is one of the most sensible things I've heard come from the mouth of a film critic.

L'Anglaise et le Duc by Rohmer is one of the most "late style" films ever made. Big budget digital nightmare recreation of 18th Century Paris from the mind of a hyperjaded boomer. Basically his Megalopolis.

Jaws and The Exorcist from that same time period were far more damaging to the medium

Star Wars is in essence the grandiose version of the 50s sci-fi b-flick, completely rooted in nostalgia like the rest of Lucas' work.

If he had more skill he would attentionwhoe elsewhere not on a general with a dozen people, alas we always end up with these types.

No, it's not bad, but why would you care. I think it's a great film, but that's just my opinion lil bro.
>>

I care. Why do you think it's a great film? I wanna know what others think!
If I don't like it nor get it, what does that say about me? That worries me too...
>>
>>223981149
It doesn’t say much, but the fact that you are worried about what other people think, proves you’re a weak willed faggot. Unironically, just be yourself and stop attentionwhoring. I don’t give a fuck about a single Rohmer film, but I don’t ask for people’s approval.

I think it's a great film because I like the narration and the writing, it's very literary. I also enjoy the visuals and the armpits, it's just a highly beautiful film.
>what does that say about me?
Absolutely nothing.

Yeah

Ford, Hitchcock, Rohmer, Allen, Sang-Soo, etc. all made endless films with variations on the same plot

More proof that plot doesn't matter. It's just the framework to hang all the actually interesting things from.

No, that's just mentioned in addition to him being a worse filmmaker (hence the "too"). 'tino's a Big Mac (unglamorous and not particularly salutary, but serviceable and without pretensions of being something higher), while Lynch is some faggy overpriced smashburger or something. Stomp clap hey (f)arthouse.

An attention-seeking, self-conscious tastelet like you is certainly not helping his case.

lol. Sam Fuller is kind of overrated desu. The Steel Helmet and Underworld USA are the only films I like of his. Short Round is my favorite character.

The way that he venerates the utter banalities of women he creates for his films disgusts me. Whenever I see Sheryl Lee I just want to vomit at the sickly mawkishness she was used to inflict on us.

I’m okay with his “southern gothic” aesthetic even if he is faking it, and I’m from the south. It’s not too far off from how people dress here, but they don’t wear those retarded Jack Skellington looking ass belts. They really don’t wear BB Simon’s too much either, that was always more of a northern thing to my knowledge.

Hillbilly is not the right word. It’s redneck or ghetto. Hillbilly’s keep their distance from society, and dress in whatever they have that is most practical and available. Redneck and ghetto people actually keep up with society, and wear whatever niggaesthetics they are influenced by and sometimes mix it with their own style.
>>
>>223984971
I guess, but you know what I mean... he's going for that inbred appalachian "wild" moonshiner aesthetic, which us ironic because he's a huge leftist. Interesting guy, I like him, but I think his music is super boring after a certain point.
>>
>>223985093

One day, I’m going to move to West Virginia, and actually live that life without the rape and incest. I’m tired of living in cities. I wanna go somewhere that is backwards as fuck. The only girl that I know from West Virginia literally got raped by her cousin and molested by her brother. She is awesome. Movies for this feel? I’ve spent too much time here today, but that’s okay.
>>
>>223984847
The Steve Vai scene is some funny shit
>>
>>223985188
West Virginia's lit, there's an OF hoe from there that's just in it for the love of the game, she sends me freebies everyday and I don't even pay her. She lives alone in a big house and has good money from simps, but she don't care cause she's just traumatized and likes actual nice guys and attention. If I lived there, I would just smoke weed and shoot guns and hunt ducks and shit, I think.
I guess the feel is maybe like A Mothman Prphecies feel? Cause it's (almost) Halloween? Idk seems like West Virginia films suck balls except for Night of the Hunter.
>>
>>223985492
You’re right West Virginia movies do kind of suck. I’m going to just maybe watch the third Ginger Snaps, the only I haven’t watched yet.

>>
>>223985981
Ya, I love the first one, the second one was pretty cool too. I’m watching the sixers game right because I bet on them to win -7.5, but as soon as they pull away, I’ll watch it. I need some weed though. This is the only Halloween week that I didn’t watch any horror movies in my entire life. I just haven’t felt like it. If I smoke weed, I I will though.
>>
>>223986056

I’ve been meaning to watch it for a while. I haven’t watched any giallo in forever. The last time I did, I watched a double feature of The New York Ripper and Demons. Demons was really great, but it made me go buy cocaine immediately after. Then I did coke for 3 months straight lol.

I watched Na Hong-jin's Hope and the movie went back and forth between the most exhilarating and fun action setpieces you'll see and literally The Asylum tier bullshit with The Asylum tier CGI. The design of the "leader" aliens was horrendous (aside from the monster form of the male one) and the random dialogue bits they had were out of place, baffling and utterly retarded like a 13 year old trying to insert "lore" into the whole thing, but ironically the more he added the dumber and less intriguing it became. The aliens should have mostly stayed monstrous and frankly there should jave only been two of them, there should have been no explanations (but I would leave the sudden ship crash out of the sky as the ending).
And going back to the CGI, wtf happened? All the practical stuff and the stunts were great. There's a decent CGI sequence with a ship crash at the very end of the movie but the aliens were genuinely The Asylum tier and the camera focuses on them all the time, it's like Na Hong-jin was proud of that shit.
