Local that has lived in all except Adelaide.

My favorite is Darwin because it's not like anything else, some crime issues but not bad.
Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane are basically the same just getting better weather as you go further north.
Canberra is a shithole but has the best museums if you are into that.
Perth is nice in the winter but turns into the surface of the sun in summer.
Hobart is more of a big town than a true city, Tas has great nature but Hobart has no life.
From a couple of short stays in Adelaide it seems like a colder Perth.

Centeral Coast NSW north of Sydney is great, a few large towns spread between mountains and rivers.
