I wasted my twenties working dead end jobs (low tier service industry) and have nothing to show for it. Now I'm early thirties and on a career track (trades). When I was younger I wanted to travel the world out of backpack but shit happened and it didn't work out. I poorly managed my finances. Now I'm in a situation where I have some flexibility with work, I could theoretically take 3+ months off per year unpaid to go travel, then try to make up for it by working more the rest of the year. It's possible , doing so would set me behind financially more than I already am, and impact my advancement at work somewhat. Anyone have any advice? Should a "late bloomer" just play it safe and do the standard American vacation route? I don't want to be 40 and barely better off than I am now
>>2919134Being retarded is a permanent tax that you are forced to pay into every single second of your life
>>2919137I grew up in a white trash household with abusive parents, sorry I wasn't born with a trust fund like you
>>2919138>trust fund accuser on trv>white trash householdchecks out goodlyWhat that anon really meant to say is that your bad decisions, irrespective of whose fault they are most attributed to, are imposed on you through fortune or suffering.Fate doesn't give a fuck why those decisions were made or why they were forced to be made. But I mean, you said it in your post that you were the one who managed your finances poorly. So what are we supposed to think?
>>2919367I'm aware that I've made retarded life decisions, that's why I put late bloomer in quotes, you could replace that with "retard"Was asking for some advice from people who have been in similar situations though, not sure what you're trying to tell me that I don't already know
>>2919375You are asking should I be lazy?Sure be lazy, lmao
>>2919377I said I would try to make up the difference by working more if it's possible, which it likely is in my situation I don't think you're trying to be helpful
>>2919377Let me phrase the question in a simpler wayWhat should my net worth and income saved annually be at age 31 with no wife or kids to go traveling for a few months a year
>>2919388Net worth over $200,000 at age 30
>>2919134The best time to go was yesterday, the next best is today. If you wait until tomorrow, you'll never know when you'll get there
>>2919134>I wasted my twenties working dead end jobsI am wasting them right now as a NEET stuck on a tropical island with no job prospects, public transport, or opportunities for socialization even if I did speak the language. Fml
>>2919394It's going to take me a few years to get to that point. Why $200k
>>2919134I'm just worried that Europe is going to be completely destroyed by the time I'm old enough to retire and do real travelling, at least maybe I'll go to oktoberfest next year
>>2919403Its already gone. Western Europe is like the istanbul airport just a jumble of people from around the world. Eastern Europe is depoplated. Culture no longer exists in Europe
>>2919403As an Indian man in Appalachia I can say that Europe is already destroyed. My Appalachian cockpup twink took me to Europe once and I was shocked. It looked just like Appalachia.
>>2919430Are you a pan Hindu - pan Buddhist transexual pansexual?
>>2919134>>2919388You're asking the wrong questions.1 Know YOUR OWN PRIORITIES.2 Budget for those prioritiesClearly, you already have a chip on your shoulder for already being a late bloomer. So is your priority traveling, or is it having money to buy a house, raise kids or whatever? Only you can answer. On a side note, what is your trade?
>>2919434Electrician The company I work for for most of its projects in the summer
>>2919396What are you doing anon lol where are you
>>2919134Just take the trip, I have never regretted taking a trip abroad in my life, I have however regretted wasting time NOT taking the trip. We aren't getting any younger, soon as you get enough money saved up, buy the ticket and go. Maybe you don't need to even go for 3 months, 1 month is great desu. You could be sick or injured tomorrow thinking, damn I had the opportunity.
>>2919483>beingSo just be a broke wagie until i die of exhaustion and stress at 64? Thats better than retiring at 40 an having 30 stress free years of leisure?
>>2919514you're never retiring at 40 because of the retard tax. you're dying young and tired regardless
>>2919524I retired at 40. And that includes having 4 kids.Lazy Losers dont want to do the work and make the sacrifices for a good life
>>2919531You son of a bitch some of us sacrificed and worked our asses off for years for things to still not work out. There's way more to it than JUST WORK HARD BRO USE ELBOW GREASE and that black swan will fuck your shit up too.
>>2919134I'm in a similar situation27, bullshit job, about 60k total in savings. I travel, but only on short 10 day vacations. Wish I could do something long term before I'm too old, but I'm scared of unemploymentIdk what to do
>>2919545>some of us sacrificed and worked our asses off for years for things to still not work outLots of people are bad with money. Doesn't change the fact that with common sense and discipline you can retire at 40
>>2919558>bullshit job>>2919558>Idk what to doHmm total mystery
>>2919531i was talking to op. good for you but op can't because he's We Todd Did>>291957840 isnt a flex, you can barely work at all your entire life if you're smart enough

>>2919629Are you bad with money or just lazy
>>2919657Reckon you're a teeny bopper who spends too much time on /biz/ and have exactly zero real world experience.
>>2919578I am ok with money. I saved and when I learned how I invested. But along the way I had shit like malicious family members fucking my shit up, coworkers undermining me at work, family losing houses because THEY fuck up not me, family dying, some killing themselves, others stealing and ghosting etc. Hard work and sacrifice doesn't always mean much when it's like fighting against a rising tide with a little plastic shovel.
>>2919134>entry level tradesMy migger in Bibi, you are not blooming yet
>>2919691>broke retard copes by imagining that everyone is a broke idiot
>>2919725I never said you were broke, I said you were a nigger with no life experience if that's how you feel.I'm actually incredibly well off, I was born into a wealthy family and have had the easiest of easy rides.
>>2919724In one year I can go union, then make 100k a year plus bennies
>>2919728I was born into a wealthy family too, but the only thing my dad contributed to after I turned 18 was my college classes - which I had to commute to and from their house every day on my own dime to attend. Unlike OP I've always saved and had money since becoming independent because I don't get swayed by corporate advertising propaganda. However, suitable opportunities for self-enrichment are very limited. Most HR and other normies won't touch me with a ten foot pole. >>2919733DoubtEvery mutt exaggerates their pay like crazy. Bet you'll make 40 after tax as an apprentice.

>>2919787Learn how to read, I said "then make 100k" meaning I'd make that after spending some time in the union. And I live in California, 100k is average here. Pipe down seething Eurocuck.
>>2919787>Get a tertiary education and opportunities that come with it paid for by my parents>But I had to get too and from school on my own dime!
Its easy to get rich in the West, but you have to try. Its easier to cry, like a bitch
>>2919134Unless rich or married to the love of your life at 30, most people's 20's look like a waste.Your 20's is for figuring out how to be an adult. Ideally you come out of it with an in-tact reputation, decent health, and some kind of career, but a lot of people don't.Regardless, 30's should be taken more seriously. Travel is great, but if you're in your 30's, either travel by moving to places you want to experience or just do the 9-5 and vacation route. Life works out better when you're consistently dedicating your time and money to things that improve your station in the long term, rather than periodically squandering time and money on a short amount of pure recreation.Sounds hellish, but it's not. Once the momentum gets going and your live overall is improving because the consistent choices you make, your everyday life starts to improve enough you're not even thinking about taking lots of "time off".
>>2919977Yeah people who want to travel alot in their 20s and 30s are lazy retards. You shoukd be working towards a goal, a family, buying some land or a house, getting set up for when you are older Wanting to travel to goon, or try food or party in nightclubs or beaches is loser shit, brown mentality and the 2nd half of life you will get the bill
>on the travel board>No one should ever travel unless their whole life is planned outSome of you blow ins are boring as fuck
